Codey’s idea was to get theory done with and out of the way as soon as he possibly could, and as such decided that he would cover as much as he could within two lessons before moving on with the practical stuff. Of course, theory presented as facts was dreadfully dull; he wouldn’t have minded making his students go through it, but the thought of having to run it made his brain ache. That was most definitely something he did not want to do; it had to be interesting for both him, and his students. After much thought, he came across a solution. Dividing the room in two, he got rid of most of the chairs and desks. If everyone came, they would have fair numbers, but even if a few didn’t, it wasn’t a big deal. Plans could always be adjusted.

Taking a seat on his desk, he surveyed the room with a smirk. There was only one row – the front row – and students that came would have to pick a seat either on the right or the left of the room. It wasn’t that he disliked back rows, it was just that what he had planned required the layout to be as such. Leaning back, his smirk grew as he waited for students to arrive.

Violet wasn't much for theory. Theory was boring, and easy and simple. Pretty much anyone could pick up a textbook and read to learn the theory behind things. The real work, fascinating part of things were always practical. Experience was how people truly learned things. Though, she tolerated the theory because it was a subject that she was interested in.

That day, she walked through the hall of Merlin's Academy, her book bag slung over her shoulder, on her way to class. Upon walking into the room, she noted the layout of the desks, and had to stop herself from letting out an audible groan. Violet was not one for front rows. She walked into the room, and took the seat farthest to the left, barely acknowledging the Professor, leaning back on his desk. She dropped her book bag to the floor with a thud, and waited silently for more people to arrive.

Conner walked through the halls of the academy, murmuring random facts so he could remember if it was needed. Running the facts would help him in case any fact was expected for him to know during lecture. He didn't want to fake an answer, he didn't want to mess with what little respect he got from Professor Ellingston. He wasn't a bookish type person, he preferred exploring and learning, and getting dirty while doing so. But at the moment he decided that he was going to try his best to work nicely.

Pushing the doors of the classroom, he smiled slightly at the professor and nodded his way as a greeting before taking a look at the classroom. Well, this was new. Still preferring the right to the left, he shifted over and took a seat, taking out a notebook and waited for other students to arrive. He wondered briefly if Rhian would sit near him and smiled slightly at the thought.

The library here was certainly a bit different than back at Hogwarts. While it had never been her favorite place to frequent, she'd gone there a few times, mostly to pick up books than to actually study there. Here, though, the library felt rather homey. There were little alcoves, here and there, that housed cushioned chairs and fireplaces. And the general aire of the place was more inviting than she ever remembered the one at Hogwarts being.

It was why she'd lost track of time, and almost missed class. That, and the warmth of the egg wrapped to her front. It was a strange thing, to carry all the time, but she'd grown fond of the thing. Keeping it surrounded by warmth was a hard thing to guaruntee, if it was not with her at all times. She'd fashioned a holder that would hug the egg to her front at all times, or her back, if she chose. It shouldn't be long now, before the thing hatched. Or, at least, she hoped.

Stuffing her books into her bag, she walked swiftly out and towards her class. It didn't take long to get there, and she walking into the class quite surprised at what she found. There were only two there already, so the tension of being late left her easily. Instead of the rows of seats there was only one, and the divide was not lost on her.

A look up at Professor Ellingston was accompanied with a smile. "Morning, Professor," she greeted. Rhian was not an overly outgoing person, in formal settings, but she rather liked the man, as little as she knew about him. After all, he'd given her Kai. Or Kristiana. Whichever this little bugger turned out to be.

Moving towards the right side of the room. She took a seat next to Conner. A small smile towards him, and a quiet, "Hi," and she moved to take out her text book, strange as it was around the egg.

Today was the day that Tess was going to start to add another level of stress to her life. After finally being accepted by admissions (with some skepticism), Tess Holmes was now considered a double major. She had to admit that Codey had definitely influenced her by allowing her the chance of taking dragons even though she was behind one class. It was a bit stressful to realize this, but since she got her dragon egg, and had been taking care of it like her own, she was hoping it was enough. She figured her egg would be a late hatcher but it didn't matter.

Pushing the door open, she smiled softly at Codey before taking in the whole class. Smiling shyly at Rhian she sat down beside her and nudged her as a greeting.

Alana smiled. Another class with the same teacher from that one class she took with him. She sighed. She didn't even try to look presentable for him. She didn't like him, and almost didn't even show up. But her promise. Alana always kept promises, even to herself. And she promised she wouldn't be almost late, or hung over before class again. She also swore to get high marks on everything and try her hardest. Almost the exact opposite of what she was at Hogwarts. But this was real life, and not Hogwarts. And in real life, one HAD to succeed. And that was Alana's goal.

So when she walked in and saw all the desks lined up in the front of the classroom, she snorted. Typical. Some seats where filled, and the only person she thought looked decent enough to sit next too, was a blond girl to the left. She shrugged and went to sit next to her. She didn't say hi, or acknowledge her, but simply got out her supplies, and was ready to learn.

PostSubject: Re: Dragons of the World Lesson 2 (All Years)   Dragons of the World Lesson 2 (All Years) EmptyThu Jan 15, 2015 8:57 pm

As more and more people stopped showing up for classes, Codey mentally removed them from his list of people to care about. His focus would always be on those who bothered - whether or not they cared for or about him - to show up and participate in classes. So, as each student arrive, he smiled and greeted them with the same greeting they gave him; if they didn't bother to say hello, he didn't bother to acknowledge them.

Once the time for starting class came, Codey slid off his desk, locking the door to the classroom with a flick of his wand. "The next two lessons are going to be tedious, and boring. I can tell you this now," he began, making eye contact with everyone at least once. "But, after that, things will kick off with a lot more excitement, and a lot more practical things. My goal today is to give you a brief understanding of dragons and their species."

Originally he had wanted to conduct a quiz, a game-show like class as a fun way of learning, but with the uneven number of students that had arrived, there was no way he could do that now. So instead, he decided to improvise. "This is what is going to happen. Each of you, as an individual, will write down everything you know about one specific dragon. It cannot be the one you have currently, and to ensure that you do not all pick the same, you will be randomly selecting one from this bag. You may use your textbooks and any other resources you have. Do not name the dragon. After this, you will come up here and read the description you have. Then, the others will have to give me the name of said dragon."

Turning towards the blackboard, he gave his wand another flick. Words began to write themselves out.

    - General description
    - Average weight and length
    - Habitat/country found in
    - Food sources
    - Danger level

Motioning to it, Codey smiled. "Those are all the information I want - no more, no less. Do you have any questions? If not, the bag will come round, please pick out one piece of paper from inside. It will have your dragon name."

Controlling said bag from where he stood - for he was far too lazy to actually walk around - he levitated the simple pouch from student to student. When he was done, he perched himself back onto his desk and nodded at them. "Please, don't wait for an invitation to start."

    YES!

Late again. Yes, Daniel was late. He wasn't surprised, not in the slightest. It was a habit. A habit he loved. Most people didn't enjoy Daniel's habit, but he didn't care for other people's opinions. He arrived exactly when he meant to, and usually it was to annoy and disrupt as many people as possible. Why? Well, he was Daniel Jameson, he could damn well do as he liked.

Moving in to the room, Dragons of the Country, or something, Daniel noted the professor had just finished handing out the instructions to the class. And Daniel did not mind making a show of himself as he moved to a desk at the front of the class and dropped his bag down on the desk.

It gave quite the thud, granted.

"Professor." Daniel acknowledged with a much too satisfied grin on his features. He hadn't noticed the tables being different because he hadn't been here for the first lesson. But he'd taken up a chair on the left hand side. Not having a clue what they were supposed to be doing, Daniel simply took his seat, and waited for someone to either tell him, or for the professor to explain.

And if neither happened, well, it didn't really matter that much to the young man.

To be honest, he was fairly disappointed when he saw that nobody was making an effort to begin. There was just something that irked him about laziness, but he also understood that theory was boring, and he wasn't going to push them. If this wasn't what they enjoyed, then so be it, he wasn't going to complain. Merlin knew he, too, was bored.

The late arrival of another student made his look up questioningly, before shaking his head at the boy. He would need to have a serious word with Daniel, and ensure that - for his class, at least, - the boy never showed up late again.

Glancing at his watch, he let out a tiny breath of annoyance. "Well, it seems that if nobody is interested in starting, we may as well just end. Class is over, I will see you all at the Dragon Stables for our next time together," he said curtly, not bothering to even grace them with a look as he moved towards his desk.
