The first class had gone well, and Codey was much more relaxed as the start of the other class neared. ‘Health and Habitat’ was closely related to the other one, and as such, he had decided to take on both, so that he would be able to cover more about the same species of dragon, rather than have another Professor teach them things they already knew. Perched once again on his desk, he waited for the students to arrive, another piece of paper on the desks, but this time, in exact numbers. Since this was a separate subject, he wanted to see what they knew, and had also prepared a quiz for them to answer. The board beside his desk held similar instructions as the previous time.

On each desk is a sheet of paper with 2 questions. Please find your seat and answer as thoroughly as you can. You have 15 minutes, after which, nothing else can be written; the paper is charmed, so do not bother trying to cheat. If you complete it earlier, you may pass it up. No discussing or talking until everyone has finished. I expect at least a short paragraph for the first question, and at least two for the second. Do not copy word for word from your textbooks.

Smirking to himself as he mentally went through the questions he had set, he waited for students to arrive, wondering how well they would do this time.

His brain hurt just at the thought of going to another class. He knew that it was Professor Ellingston and he knew he was already screwed. It was almost unfair how little he felt once he entered the classroom. This was potions class all over again, just crueler because it was a topic he enjoyed greatly. Pushing the door almost tentatively, he inwardly cursed realizing that he was the first one again. And there was the professor, perfectly placed at his desk. He halfheartedly waved at the man and plopped himself down, staring at the paper. If he was a weaker man he would start weeping, but he wasn't He was a Bailey and they didn't cry over stupid things.

Turning over the paper he began to read the questions and powered through. Failing be damned, he was too tired to care anymore. Next week he'd be better prepared. At least he hoped so.

Tapping the plastic part of the quill against his chin he thought. His fingers tapped against the table. Well dragons were basically reptiles right? They could face something similar to what smaller creatures dealt with right? Shrugging he began to write.

Dragon health problems like pox virus. They get these spots on their scales and is shown from bacteria and skin lesions on their skin. Usually involves them losing pigment in their ski and makes them sick. Also habitat change can affect dragons. Dragons are cold blooded like any other reptile, and with sunlight change, can tire them out and not to mention their prey.

At the second question, his eyes brightened. He thanks his mother for ranting on about the dangers about him taking the major. He recited what his mother had yelled at him for as he wrote down the things.

Mountains create a problem for wizards and witches because the air is thinner and the lack of oxygen creates an out of breath feeling fairly quickly when training. It can caught lightheadedness and with an environment as treacherous it can cause imminent death. Also since dragons know their environment the trainers can become prey if they're not careful.

Putting his quill down, he didn't feel as broken down as he did in the previous class. Perhaps this was a better lesson for him. He tried not to be too confident, so as the fifteen minutes passed he couldn't change a thing even if he wanted to.

Humphrey walked into class and gave a small wave to the other student there before finding his seat. The young man quickly scanned the paper on the table in front of him and got out his inkpot and quill, clearly the man wasn't one for wasting time. Tapping the end of the feather against his cheek, he frowned in thought while he looked at the questions. It didn't take too long for some of the studying he'd done before class though to pop back into his head, and he started writing down his answers.

Mouth rot is when a yellow-white substance appears in and around the mouth of your dragon. It can cause swelling and even teeth to come loose sometimes. Often it caused the dragon to have a decreased appetite. If found, you should definitely take it in to get checked out.

Another problem dragons sometimes have is called Metabolic Bone Disease. This can be caused by a lack of calcium, vitamin d3, and or phosphorus, causing a weakening of the bones in the dragon. Signs of this are: Bumps in the legs that you can feel/see, twitches, ticks, spasms, or tremors, bumps in the vertical columns of the back and tail, a swollen bottom jaw, and jerky movements.

One part of the world dragons inhabit is New Zealand and Australia. The Antipodean Opaleye is native to here, and tends to live in valleys whereas most dragons choose to live on mountains. Opaleyes aren't particularly aggressive, and are one of the easier breeds to train. A problem you could come across dealing with wild dragons in valleys is that if there are farms in the area. You would have to make sure they don't burn or eat animals from the herds in the surrounding areas.

Jaycie slipped quietly into the classroom, in a ghostly manner that was somewhat her own and had been unconsciously honed for years on end. She found an isolated desk and sat herself down, noting the paper. Immediately she assumed they were running another quiz similar to the last class, and she once more pulled out her self-inking quill. Jaycie glanced up once to scan the front of the room and made eye contact with the Professor on accident. She immediately ducked her head and began to write.

Physical injuries: whether they are accidental, inflicted by other dragons or by spells, whilst dragon hide is impervious to many things it does not make them invincible. Other things to expect are irregularities in their fire breathing, which could be caused by any number of infections or build-ups of soot, and any number of internal disruptions or hormone imbalances, ranging from bone structure to brain function to poor diet choices and indigestion.

Dragons have been found all over the world, as far south as New Zealand and in various places across Europe and Africa. They live in a variety of habitats and, depending on their species, reside in places ranging from active volcanoes to expansive forests and valleys. There are a few species who dwell near caves and others that are best suited to mountainous terrain with high peaks, such as the Catalonian Fireball.

Of course, the dragons themselves are the first prominent risk of any location, but threats can come in the tactical possibilities of the area. Mountainous terrain is difficult to navigate and, if high enough, the air is thinner and more difficult to breathe - a risk to cognitive functionality, a vital neccessity to working with dragons. Active volcanoes are dangerous enough on their own, as they are highly volatile, destructive and unpredictable elements of nature. They in themselves are self explanatory. As for habitats of valleys and the like, a dragon has a lot more freedom in these areas than a Dragon Trainer, who is closed in by the ravine walls and possibly surrounded by thick forrest or deep waters.

Jaycie finished with plenty of time to spare this time, and set her quill down gently on the desk beside her.

Rhian was glad to note that she was rather on time for her next class. As she opened the door, she noticed she definitely wouldn't be the first one. Hopefully, she wouldn't be the last either. As much as she would like to think that academy professors would be above favoritism and all that, she could understand them growing to dislike a student if they were constantly tardy. She didn't want to be that student.

Taking a seat more akin to her liking this time, still the second row, but more towards the middle, she caught sight of the boy from the pub. Her eyebrow rose in curiosity. She'd seen him in the other class, but it still surprised her that he was in her major. Something about him had struck her for an Auror, or Cursebreaker. She didn't know why, though.

With a small smile at the professor, she felt her unease from the morning relaxing. Even if he was a professor, and a stern one, it seemed, she got the feeling that he'd be fair. At least in what mattered. Turning to her paper, she flipped it over and started working.

Laying down her quill, she read through her answers. She wasn't the most eloquent, that was for certain. Her back ground was probably a bit different than those around her, but she wouldn't apologize for that. The good thing about creatures...they didn't care who you used to be. Only who you are.

Humphrey flushed a little upon realizing he'd made a mistake with his second answer, he should have erred on the side of more not less. Always make sure to check the blackboard, well whiteboard in this case, you idiot. There were other species and their habitats that he knew about to write on, so when the professor gave him a nod to go ahead and add some more on to his answer he took the opportunity gratefully. Not every teacher would be so gracious about it and he was going to take full advantage. Dipping his quill in the inkpot, he began to write once more in his precise cursive script. Printing was something he only did on official forms when it specifically requested it, because his cursive was both neater and quicker to write.

Another dragon species is one we are more likely to come across, as they are in native to Wales. The Common Welsh Green is the dragon I'm referring to. They tend to nest up in the higher mountains, where they are most comfortable. One of the reasons they enjoy it there is the acess to eat sheep and other small mammals that are native to the area. There is actually a specific reservation set aside to preserve their habitats, which is one of the reasons that they are still so numerous. Not all species are as lucky to have their homes protected as the Welsh Greens.

Finishing up, he looked over the information to make sure it was what he recalled from his book. Everything seemed to be in order, and he sat back in his chair and stretched his hands out behind his head. His back gave a small crack when he did, causing Humphrey to look around hoping nobody had heard him. It wouldn't do to distract others while they were trying to concentrate on their answers.

Jaycie watched calmly as Professor Ellingston wandered over to read her answers. She was partly amused and partly intrigued when he didn't bother to turn her sheet around, instead reading it upside down. Having enough trouble reading things as they were, Jay knew she'd never figure out how to read inverted language. After a moment, he tapped her page and instructed her to expand on what she'd written. Jaycie blinked, somewhat surprised, but did not hesitate to lift her quill once more the second he'd left her desk.

Squeezing her addition in down the bottom of the parchment, Jaycie's quill flew across the sheet. She wanted to get her extension done before time ran out.

For a dragon trainer working in the aforementioned habitats, it is important to know the terrain and be prepared for any complications. It would be foolish to enter a dragon's territory without first knowing the easiest routes for escape, and places of tactical advantage over the beast. For example, valleys and forrests - whilst enclosed areas - provide various hiding locations for shelter, and swift exits when needed. When tackling volcanic habitats, a trainor should arm themselves with powerful healing spells and freeze charms, in case of emergencies, and be prepared to disapparate at any moment. Broomsticks can be used to access hard-to-reach locations in mountain ranges, though it would not be wise to take living modes of flight transportation in case the dragon develops an appetite.

Jaycie found her mind bubbling with ideas, but she'd run out of time. There was so much more she could have added to that paragraph. However, she was happy with what she'd written, and found herself quite glad for the extension task. It was less boring now that her mind was buzzing with problem solving thoughts.

Conner had already messed up with his answers, being overall careless about all of it. But he knew he had to do better, he had to just all over the place. The moving, the change of perspective, and this being his second year shook him up a bit. But he needed to try, especially with every single person just succeeding faster than he ever could. When he had received the egg, he had been nervous to take it to the flat, for a brief moment wondering what Ben would do if he got his mitts on his precious egg. There were many things that happened to him since getting the egg.

For one thing was the heating bill going up. He couldn't help it; he needed Charles, the Chinese fireball egg, to be safe. He was a bit biased making sure to keep the temperature around the range of male gender. But he knew that his roommate tended to experiment on the simplest thing, that Charles, or Charlene depending on the temperature change, and if that bastard did it, could affect it in the long run. He was surprised no one talked and with a hint of embarrassment raised his hand.

"So far my Chinese Fireball egg has been in my room at all times. I tend to try to keep the temperature ranging within a healthy male range, since they tend to be a bit smaller. But I have a roommate and well, there's no promise he won't try to experiment in temperature, never lower of course," he stopped and muttered "I'd kill him", clearing his throat he continued, "but would it affect my egg, like badly if he does so? I just want it to be healthy and I'm not always there either. Also do potions fumes affect the egg? I just worry since he's a potioneer...sorry"

Running his fingers through his hair he wondered if he was just being paranoid, or stupid. Maybe he was just stupid.
