| At the front of his door he had placed a scroll, neatly placed to tell everyone of their meeting place: Field Training Class Announcement!
The class will take place at night, I suggest that you wear warm clothing for it will run late, very late. Wear appropriate clothing, and no excuses. Everything else, including a meal will be provided.
-Dorian Ashworth He wasn't going to do the conventional hours, and instead had planned something a bit tougher. It was a simple overnight camping trip, to see exactly how they would react to the outdoors. Usually hours were restricted after ten at night, but he had to go by no one as he casually changed the hours. Usually he would have preferred to take them by portkey to a real forest where they were left to fend off for themselves, but he knew some wouldn't make it. So this was an easy medium. In front of him lay all the objects they would need: sleeping bags, canteen of water, tents, canned food, and a Swiss army knife. Simple and to the point. He wanted to see their creativity when it came to trekking and their independence. Smirking to himself, he dug his feet into the ground, waiting patiently. He hated people making him wait, but with gloves, thick pants, warm coat, and a red scarf, he was ready to teach another lesson. |

| Auror classes were some of her favourite things since she started the course, and despite the fact that they usually left her exhausted at the end of the day, she thoroughly enjoyed them. Imagine her surprise when, walking down to the class one day, she saw the notice on the front door. Carefully reading over it, she frowned a little in confusion and then broke into a huge grin. Whatever it was, she was quite sure she was going to love it. Professor Ashworth was a tough but fair man to study under, and she admired him completely.
As the time for class drew nearer, she checked her belongings one last time. She wore long cargo pants and a long-sleeved shirt, over which a simple jumper was donned; around her waist was tied a thick wind-breaker. Brooke knew how cold these nights could get, especially with winter around the corner. Back at home, when they weren't too busy with work (and they always made sure this happened at least once a week) her parents would take her and Tristan to the tree-house. It had been modified slightly to be more spacious, and Tristan had been given a chance to help expand it the Muggle way - he and Caleb spent one summer physically building extensions.
She carried a small sling bag which rested comfortably against her hip, not swinging accessively so as to get in the way of any activity. Inside, she had a small bottle of water, a Muggle torch (one never knew when this would come in handy), a very tiny notebook, a couple of pens, and tissue. Normally she had many more items, like gum and post-it notes and all sorts of bits and pieces, but for the lesson, she had removed most of them, keeping on her only what she thought would be needed for... For whatever-it-was-Professor-Ashworth-had-planned-for-them.
The crunch her sports shoes made as they destroyed the golden leaves as she walked greeted her ears. Moving down towards the Akillion Forest, Brooke breathed in the fresh cool air and smiled. Spotting her Professor standing there, she quickly made her way over, noting she was first. Oh well. Better be early than late. "Hello Professor," she greeted excitedly, looking around. Whatever he had planned was going to be amazing. She could feel it. |

| Arthur was surprised to get the owl for the next lesson so soon. He picked out some warm clothes and wondered if he should take anything. The professor had said that everything would be provided but he still felt better taking a wand, and a flashlight. He considered taking a couple of notebooks and a couple of pens but he decided that it was unlikely they were going have to write anything down. Besides they were told everything would be provided.
Dressed in the warmest pair of pants he had, some gloves, a scarf and a coat he made his way to the training field. Hair not slicked back this time. He couldn't be bothered and it was doubtful that his hair would get in the way anyway since it was short. He wasn't sure if he should have brought the scarf as maybe it would get lost but then he saw the professor was wearing one too. It was even the same colour which amused Arthur for some reason but he didn't show it.
Noticing what was on the field he realized they were camping. Of course he should have known that from the owl. It had been a while since he went camping but it could be fun.
"Hello professor," he greeted. He could see his breath as he spoke but he didn't feel the cold yet.

| Aqua was surprised when she heard that Auror training next lesson was held in the night. She wasn't sure what they will do in the forest at the night even but she will found out when she shows up for sure. She hoped it will be good lesson and she will learn something useful there now once again.
She did put on the most warm pants she had, the warm sweater and coat on top of it. She did even put scarf around her neck. She did put on even warm boots, she didn't wanna catch a cold there now at all. After she was dressed she walked to the place where they all supposed to meeting.
"Hello, professor," she said with a smile when she arrived there now. She had taken her wand with her just in the case. She didn't have to take anything else with her. It was said in the owl what she had got. She even saw there two other people, one of them she knew already but other not so well, just have seen around but she greeted them too. |

| Remembering the message from the professor, Airen dressed himself in thick denim jeans, casual boots, a tight, long-sleeved t-shirt, and a maroon, turtleneck sweater. Putting on black, fingerless wool gloves, Airen made his way to leave his dorm before quickly deciding to don a jean jacket over his sweater for extra warmth and a simple gray beanie for his head. He hesitated for a moment at the door to his dorm. Sighing frustratedly at the likelihood of not following directions, Airen swiped his wand from the nightstand and closed his door. Leaving his dorm, he made the trek silently to the forest.
Airen began growing a little anxious as he made his way into the forest. He'd been camping a fair number of times, but his trips had always been casual and fun and with a number of others. Counting the fact that he was being trained to be an Auror, Airen's nervousness stemmed from the fact that there was likely going to be a challenging aspect near military level involved in this challenge. While Airen believed in what he had signed up for and was willing to go the distance, he was still a little scared that he might not be cut out for being an Auror. Mentally slapping himself, Airen thought to himself, "Push on, Air. You can do this."
Arriving at the site, He noticed that most of the camping essentials were already laid out for him and his classmates. There was even a Swiss army knife. Feeling better about the situation, Airen felt some of his nerves dissipate. Spotting an average sized boulder near the small group, Airen stepped up on it and sat down, ready for the lesson.
Airen issued a polite "Good evening, sir," before he mentally got himself ready for the lesson. |

| Apparating to the designated area on campus, Christian adjusted his coat around himself. He'd had a few hours between classes, since tonight was Field Training, and he'd gone home to have dinner. It was a pain sometimes, Apparating back and forth, but he'd have it no other way. He didn't have the luxury of living on campus, or in Avalon, and even if he did...well, he just couldn't.
Treking through the dying grass of the grounds, he moved towards the woods. He hadn't explored them at all, having only been a student here for a week or so. But like any forest surrounding a magical castle, one could never be too careful.
He honestly didn't know what to expect out of tonight's lesson. It was his first for the year, having joined late, and he hadn't really made any friends in his major to be able to hear how last lesson went. The professor could be planning any number of things: combat strategies, tactical drills, team skill exercises. Based on the note outside of Prof. Ashworth's classroom, he'd only brought the essentials: himself and his wand. The note had said everything else would be provided, and he trusted that. If it wasn't given to them, they didn't need it, he figured.
It didn't take him long to find the small group, as they weren't too far into the line of trees. He recognized a few of the faces from class earlier, but none that he'd actually met. Some seemed a bit more prepared, dressed to the nines in warm clothing and packing bags and such. Rubbing the back of his neck in embarrassment, he wondered if he'd missed the memo. Apparently they'd known camping was in order.
Taking another look around the group, he saw a boy off to the side, who'd made himself at least mildly comfortable on a rock. He hadn't appeared to bring anything else either, and that was a plus in Christian's book. A few steps took him in the other boy's direction, and he leaned against a nearby tree. When the professor seemed to notice him, he gave the man a curt nod, "Sir." |

| Amerix walked towards Akillion Forest pondering the possibilities of tonight's lesson. This was her first time experiencing a class held so late at night that she had no idea what to expect at all. To be honest with herself, she was a little uneasy about how things would go. At least she wouldn't be alone, unless...unless the professor decided to separate them. The note had said that a meal would be provided. Would they be staying overnight? She had worn warm clothing that also enabled her freedom of movement and her hair was in a neat braided bun to keep it out of the way in case they had to do any physical activity. She had also brought her wand along to be on the safe side. Even if they may not need it, it made her feel more secure.
She plowed through the snow, her breath coming out in mists. She sincerely hoped that it wouldn't get too chilly as the night went on. Spotting a group of people ahead, she sped up her pace and joined the group.
"Good evening, professor," Amerix greeted politely before sending a smile to Brooke and Arthur. |

| When James saw the note on the door that morning, he had quite honestly been surprised. For something like this to be happening so soon.. Well, it was interesting nevertheless. Of course, he had missed the first lesson, but he had already tried the course by himself, and quite enjoyed his time. To know that he would be attending a proper class for the first time made him slightly nervous, if he were to be transparent - but James never was, and he played it cool and calm.
Wearing long, comfortable jeans and a long sleeved shirt, James made his way down to the forest, a thick jacket over him. Upon spotting the clearing, and the gathering of his classmates, he walked over. "Professor," he greeted the man, his eyes travelling over to the items nearby.
Camping. James was torn; on one hand, he enjoyed being outdoors, but on the other, this was for a class, it was winter, and he was quite certain it wouldn't be a simple trip. Whatever the case, James knew this was going to be very interesting. Crossing his arms to conserve energy - and also because it was kinda chilly - he waited for class to begin. |

| Camping. Scar couldn't honestly say she was fond of it. Though she supposed that she had better get over her dislike for it, and suck it up. Becoming an auror would obviously mean uncomfortable situations, and if she couldn't deal with a simple overnight camping trip in winter, then she would have to reconsider her major. Auror work was not for people who were weak.
The evening came around and the air was crisp and cold. She dressed in jeans, that were comfortable and sturdy for walking, and a heavy coat, complete with a beanie and scarf and gloves, and of course boots with thick woollen socks. The note had said that everything else would be provided, so the only other thing she bought with her, besides her wand of course, was a water bottle.
Upon reaching the clearing, where she saw other students gathering, "Good evening Professor," she said, her teeth chattering slightly from the cold. |

| No one was happy abut having to have the class at night. Well to bad he didn't care one bit. As each one of them came, he was at least relieved that they weren't complaining vocally, and they had worn more or less appropriate clothing. He knew that he was planning something tough, to see exactly how they worked as a team, and as individuals when pit against nature. He knew that it'd be hard for many, but he wanted to see exactly what the had. Murmuring a charm, the light beamed over them clearer and he figured he could start his lesson. "Let's start the lesson by saying, good timing. I appreciate those who make it on time and do as I say." Looking at each of them he gave a small smile, barely there, and somewhat condescending. "Tonight we will be, as you guessed it camping. In front of me are the necessities that you will be using: A tent, that you will be asked to build for yourself; a sleeping bag, one canteen of water only half full. It will be asked of you to be smart on using not only your water, but also collecting fresh one. I have also been kind enough to give you canned food, and a Swiss army knife to help you out."Walking in front of the objects he snapped his fingers as the things began to move around to form themselves into piles for each and every one of them. He took a look at them and stuck his hand out. "The reason that this class is happening on a friday is that you, will all be spending the weekend in the woods. But I'm not going to be cruel, you will be given a partner and a map of the woods with possible food sources, water sources and basic instructions. If at any time you feel that you cannot take it, send a signal in the sky and I will come get you. I will be around, do not fear and work together throughout this weekend to show me camaraderie. But since I'm giving you all of this, there's a catch....you will be leaving your wands with me....you can bring what you already are carrying but that's it. Any questions?" | As class started, Brooke turned her attention back to her Professor, smile widening as he explained the assignment. It was more exciting than she could have ever imagined. The items provided would definitely help, especially the army knife, which had more applicants than just opening the food cans. The news that they were spending not one night but two was received with mixed emotion. While it did sound like an experience of a lifetime, she was anxious because she knew her room-mate would worry if she didn't come home.
you will be leaving your wands with me....you can bring what you already are carrying but that's it. Any questions?"
Now that was a real surprise and her eyes widened in shock. No wands? Well, that certainly changes things. she thought to herself, unsure about how she felt about it. On one hand, it would make things more challenging, and definitely kick things up a notch, but on the other, she relied on her wand for a lot of things... And then it hit her and her smile widened even more. That's just it. He doesn't want us to rely on magic, she realized, her respect for the man only growing in that moment.
But there was still that one thing nagging at the back of her mind, and she quickly raised her hand. "Professor, I uh, I just want to ask - what about our room-mates? I mean, I don't know about them, but I know that if I do not return tonight mine would probably go half crazy with worry. She's.. excitable like that," she explained, hiding a grin. Although she wasn't a hundred percent sure, Cassana had already proven to be very similar to herself, and she knew that if Cassie left for a class and didn't return for more than a day, she would throw together a search party to look for her. And as such, she was quite certain that her room-mate would do the same. "Is.. is there any way to let her know that I am camping and not, well, gone missing or anything like that?" she added a moment later, to sum up what she had both said and thought. |
