With a pair of loose pants and a tank top, Dorian knew it was time to really work out. He rarely was out of a suit, felt it was like a second skin to him, yet at the moment, he wanted to show them, at even at his age, there would be no denying that he could keep up, and excel his students in this field.

The weather was chilly, but what was to be expected of September. It wasn't enough for him to cover up. He always felt comfortable in the cold, felt the cold air could help him breathe properly and helped his circulation. If it was true or not, it didn't matter, it hadn't failed him since. Looking at the bell tower, he realized that the students should be arriving soon. He had sent them an owl:

    Students,
The first lesson of this year in Auror training will take place in the fields. Be mindful of what you wear, be on time and don't keep me waiting.
    -Professor Ashworth

Stretching, he tapped his foot, waiting for them to arrive. He didn't like any late students, but he did always enjoyed putting on a show when needed. Running his fingers through his hair he yawned, himself knowing that eight in the morning classes weren't going to be enjoyable to many.

Aqua did usually wear skirts and dresses but these time she decided to wear some more comfortable things like pants and she had sneakers on instead of High heels. She wasn't sure what they will do today but since it was on fields she wanted to be prepare to anything. She couldn't do many things in her skirts or dresses.

She soon walked to the field. She did put now her hair even into the ponytail just in the case. Soon she arrived and saw there at the moment only a professor. "Hello," she said with a smile there now. She really was curious what they will do today but she didn't ask since when everyone are here she will get to know anyways.

There were many things that could be done in the Auror fields, but all practical, which meant that, after reading the note, Brooke was beyond excited for class to start. Never being one to wear anything revealing, she picked out a pair of track pants and a loose t-shirt, made from jersey material. Nothing was so tight that it was revealing, but not so loose that it made it hard to work.

Stepping out of the University, she smiled at the cooling weather. If this were to be a very physical lesson, that would most likely be on her side. As she made her way down to the field, she debated shortening her hair, so that it wouldn't get in the way of anything, but finally settled on tying it in a firm pony tail.

Seeing their Professor - or who she assumed to be her Professor - standing there in a tank top, she wondered if she had made the right choice. If the person teaching them was wearing gym clothes himself, it was probably not going to be an easy class, and having long hair definitely would get in the way. I'll see how it goes, she decided, approaching the area with a smile.

"Good morning, Professor Ashworth," she greeted, looking around to see if she could spot what they were going to be doing. It was rather early in the morning, but her excitement had done a good job of waking her, and she didn't feel the least bit tired as she stood there, waiting with building anticipation for the lesson to start.

Airen was both excited and nervous. His excitement was obvious, but not his nervousness. His main reason for being nervous was that he worried about if he chose the wrong major. Forcing those thoughts aside, Airen dressed in a pair of black sweatpants, sneakers, and a red, form-fitting workout shirt that had sleeves ending just before his elbows. He wasn't super muscled, but one could tell he was strong for his age.

He grabbed a pair of fingerless gloves that ended at his wrists. Pulling on a blue hoodie that fit his form similar to the shirt and zipping it up, Airen made his way to the field. On the way there, he inwardly recited phrases that held deep meaning to him. He also prayed silently for guidance.

Arriving on the field, Airen quickly noticed that he was the first guy there. Two girls he recognized from his house in Hogwarts were already there. He was never the most social person in Hogwarts, so the most he knew about the two girls was their names. Aqua and Brooke as he recalled.

"Good morning, sir," Airen spoke calmly as he walked into the area the small group were in. He took a place towards the edge of the group, but still near enough to where he could hear any directions. Folding his arms across his chest, he waited for the class to begin.

Ah, the first lesson of his last year, and one of his favourite, too. Outside, hands-on, Caelum adored the practical lessons. Theory was good for you apparently, and was important to the workforce - as one did have to file a mission report frequently when they were an auror - but the practicalities behind it all he considered of more importance. What kind of auror couldn't handle themselves on the field? It was also nice that he was genetically wired for this kind of stuff.

With a grin on his features as he made his way down the ground, his eyes settled on the group of newbie's. They all looked fresh-faced and excited. They would soon learn the pain of writing a mock mission report. His grin widened a little as he came to stand amongst the other students, his eyes immediately shifting to Professor Ashworth. He'd been intimidated by the headmaster at first, but... Well, he was a great teacher.

A really great teacher. "Hey, professor," he smiled at the teacher.

The professor had said to be mindful for what they wore so Arthur wore an T-shirt, a pair of track pants and a pair of somewhat old sneakers. While he hardly dressed up all the time, he didn't usually wear track pants, still he knew it was likely to be a physical lesson so track pants seemed like a good call. He had also gelled his hair back a little just to make sure that it didn't get into his eyes.

When Arthur walked onto the field he noted that the professor and the other students were wearing things similar to him. He wondered if he'd have to fight any of them. It would be a logical idea for the lesson. He didn't voice his thoughts though and merely took his place and hoped that he didn't look nervous.

"Hello Professor," Arthur greeted briefly. Then he waited for the lesson to begin.

Dorian studied each student as they came in. He was surprised to see that there had been no complaints at how early he had forced them to wake up to attend his class. That had been his first test, to see exactly how they took morning classes. The earliest slot the better for him in his opinion. Studying them over he noticed the varying clothing styles that they had decided to dress too. Taking it all in, the first genuine smirk came from seeing his veteran student Callum. The boy was known to take actual initiative in his Auror class. Sadly it would be his last year. He figured he could show them how it was done. Despite missing one student he believed ,he figured he could start the lesson.

"Good morning class, and I do mean good morning. If you don't know me, I'm Dorian Ashworth, Headmaster and the professor that will get your ass in shape. If you think that a cute outfit will help you out here, then let me tell you you're very wrong. Today you will be running, sweating, and really showing me if you're ready. I don't need someone who knows theories, because a book won't help you when you're running, hiding and on the field."

Walking over, he waved his hand and the charmed items began to pop up. The first thing were enchanted rings, floating two feet from the ground. They were close together in pairs up to four. Half a mile came a wall, twenty feet up, and a tight rope, then overshot to the side where they were forced to climb up. Then in a cut area was a muddy area with wires tightly created together. Above it was one rope, and the word "climb" above it. It seemed simple enough for him. Placing his hand on his hips he smirked.

"I want to test endurance. I want to see if you have moxie, passion and strength. I expect you to go through these rings and not touch them. If you touch them, they will latch themselves to your ankles, and will add some weight. I expect your to continue if this happens. Next I want you to try and climb the wall. Use your core strength" signaling his abdomen, "If you can't climb the wall, then go around, I expect you to finish this obstacle course. Next comes going under the wires you will go through the mudbank. If you can't do it tap out. It will enchant it to lift from you. But keep going, mud never hurt anyone. Lastly you climb up and tap the bell. Then your time will end. Any questions?" he asked smirking. "If you don't, then let's get your bloop pumping give me a lap around the cemented path Go! Whoever comes first chooses the order that people will do the obstacle. So if you want to run my class, by all means be the first one."

Thana was running late, and she hated it. She had taken part of the Auror course as an elective and was running late! She had been up since five but had had a family emergency and had to go to St Mungo's and check on her father. He had suffered a stroke. She had gone to the classroom but found a note and had to run back to her dorm and changing before running down to the area she had read.

Quickly she ran up to the class, at eight minutes past eight. "I am so sorry I am late Professor." Thana said to the man in front of her. If he wanted a reason she would tell him but didn't come up with an excuse. Silently she listened to him, she stood and waited, wearing a simple black singlet that showed her scars and black shorts. She nodded to her roommate Brooke, she hadn't told her why she had disappeared so early in the morning. Her look said "Talk later" as she wanted to focus on the task at hand. The course seemed simple enough, it was testing their strength and their durability. She sent another look over to Brooke and smiled, this time her look said. "This will be fun." and she genuinely meant it. Thana loved physical exercise, whether it be gym or dance or Quidditch.

The moment class started, Brooke's full attention was on what the man was saying, absorbing everything like a sponge. An uneasy grin formed on her face as they were explained the challenge, a mixture of excitement and fear filling her, combining with the adrenalin already beginning to form. This was definitely going to be an interesting lesson, she decided, shaking her head as he asked if anyone had questions.

A noise made her glance sideways and she smiled softly as Thana slid up next to her, not saying anything as she focused on their Professor. Exercise and fitness. In her younger days, Brooke had not been fond of that, but lately she went out for walks with her brother and they often jogged in the woods, talking, or sometimes not saying anything as they ran. As for fitness, she knew she wasn't the fastest or the strongest out there, but her endurance was relatively high, because she knew how to space herself out. Still, it was going to be a very difficult challenge indeed, and she was more than excited to do it.

Glancing around to make sure nobody was staring at her - she did not like to brag or show off about her abilities - she slid off the rubber band and, focusing, reduced the length to a neat bob cut, with no fringe to get in her eyes. Sure, she did realize that people would question her about it if they noticed, but she hoped everyone would be too caught up in their actions to pay attention; she would grow it out later, after she was done.

Doing some quick stretches, she took a few deep breaths. Turning her body to the path, she began jogging, keeping time with the others. By the time she finished, she was panting and already sweaty, but she enjoyed the run, and feeling the rush of wind through her short hair and the adrenalin rushing around her body. Reaching where she started from, she didn't stop moving, remembering her mother's warning about cramps, instead stretching and walking around.

Looking at the Professor, she hesitated for a moment before asking, "Professor, since I'm first, I get to pick, right? Can.. May I ask you to go first, so we know how it is to be done?" Fidgeting, she wondered if she should have kept quiet, nervously waiting for a reply.

Arthur noticed someone had run in late but he didn't pay much attention to her. Whatever her reason for being late, it wasn't really any of his business. He was better off concentrating on the lesson anyway. Still he noticed her excitement. It would be fun. He hadn't expected anyone to say that and it brought a small smile to his face.

Out of the corner of his eye he noticed one of the student's hair changed. But didn't say anything. Then they started running and he did his best to win. He had no clue who he would have picked if he was first but he always made an effort to do his best. It turned out that he didn't have to worry about picking anyone because try as he might he just couldn't out run one of the female students.

Telling the professor to go first. He liked that idea. He wondered how Professor Ashworth would react to it though. The professor was certainly dressed for running around like they had earlier so maybe he would go first. Eyes on the professor, Arthur wondered what his response would be.

As students began to run off, he had a satisfaction seeing them try. Some where quicker than others, some had set their pace and he saw no harm in it. It was more to see where they stood. Many forgot the importance of cardio. Figuring he could start, as the last one ran towards the field he himself took off. Dorian prided himself in his health and fitness. At his age, he was not about to let himself go. Despite having retired from the Auror department, he was still held in high regard for not only being headmaster but for working under the training of it, under this position. His pace was set, quick and steady, to get his heart pumping. He passed a few students along, but it seemed the metamorphmagus beat him to it since she started early.

Not even breaking a wind he nodded towards the girl and waited for the others to make their way back to the field. Looking at the stopwatch he was pleased with the results. His attention though, returned to the girl...Miss Walters, as she began to speak.

Professor, since I'm first, I get to pick, right? Can.. May I ask you to go first, so we know how it is to be done?"

Looking down at the girl, he raised an eyebrow. Did she actually ask him to be the first one to go through the obstacle course? A part of him thought that she figured he couldn't do it anymore and something in his ego pushed him to do it. Mud never bothered him anyways, and he figured he was going to do it at the end of the lesson might as well do it now.

"I see Miss Walters, I like the way you think." Looking at his class he smirked, "let it be known that because of Miss Walters I will be doing the first run through the obstacle course. But seeing since I am giving you a visual, I will now be taking time once you run your own obstacle course. Because if I'm showing you a way of doing it, I know it will not eat less time away from your run."

Stretching, he immediately made eye contact with the rings and began to hope though them. His footwork was quick and sharp, quickly going through the four pairs and avoiding all of them from attaching themselves and add a weight. As he reached the twenty foot wall, he wrapping a part of the rope around his hand and pulled himself up with ease. Using his feet as anchors and his arm as a pulley system, he climbed up with ease. Sitting down at the top of the wall and throwing himself down, making sure to bend his knees as he did so. To save time from climbing back down. Seeing the mud, he took a deep breath and immediately dove under. His hands were up to protect his face from any cuts as his elbows pushed through and his feet digging themselves under the layers of mud and wiggling through. His head was kept low, to avoid getting his clothes, or anything caught under the wires. He ran across and finally reached the pole that had the rope attached to it. Making a loop for his foot, he used his dominant right foot and began to climb. Using an X formation with his feet, and using his triceps to pull up he found himself touching the bell and hoping onto the platform at the top. Climbing back down was and ease and ran back to his students.

His once grey shirt was now covered in dark brown mud, his face had splashes of it. His combat boots were a lost cause, with the layers of mud that had not just covered it outside but went inside his boots and his pants sticking to his legs. He looked a mess, but it reminded him of why he was doing this. Waving his hands to remove some mud from his arms, he took off the sopping wet shirt and threw it aside. Once he got his breathing together her grinned.

"That is how I do it, six minutes, forty-five seconds, up to you to do what you want. But who wants to do the honors of going next?" he asked.

PostSubject: Re: Building up Core Strength: Lesson 1 - Auror Training    Building up Core Strength: Lesson 1 - Auror Training EmptySat Dec 06, 2014 2:50 am

Smiling as the Professor said nothing she did her run, finishing quite close to Brooke. She had just ran across campus and had just come from St Mungo's so was out of breath and wasn't as fast as she usually was. Her adrenaline from the morning was still pumping through her and she wasn't thinking as clear as she normally would. She listened as Brooke asked the Headmaster to do it and smiled softly, raising an eyebrow as he did it and watched how he moved through everything. Her plan of attack forming in her mind. Since she had been late she decided to make up for it and moved to the front of the class. "I will Sir." she said, volunteering.

Once he nodded Thana took a deep breath, and began as the stop watch began. First going through the rings, to her it was much like a dance routine. One step touching the ground at any time she remained on her toes so she didn't touch any before making sure she had high knees. Passing it and  coming up to the wall. Since she was short she had an advantage and a disadvantage. She was smaller which meant she was lighter, but had to take longer to get up. She paused for only a second before grabbing on to the rope and pulling herself up, one hand after the other and only just touching the rope with her feet. Shortly she had made it up to the top and sat at the wall, before turning around and sliding down on it quickly, landing and bending her knees slightly. Then came the mud, Thana hated the thought of the mud as it meant that she would rely on her sense not her sight. She took two deep breaths before going straight in, feeling herself getting several nicks and cuts but stayed as low as she could, wriggling through. Not caring that she got covered in mud, she had had worse. Feeling a bit of blood dripping down her face Thana couldn't wipe it away until she cleared the mud and wires, she got caught for a moment on the last one and had to rip herself free. It wasn't graceful but in a challenge it meant she would survive.

Then came her last challenge, the pole and the rope. That was going to be the trickiest for her, as knots weren't her best strength. Plus she was injured with the gash on her shoulder.  She decided to just tackle it straight on. Grabbing on to it and wrapping a lose loop around her wrist. Using her gym training and upper body weight to pull herself up. Wincing at each hoist as she had cut her shoulder on the wire, it made her slower and she wanted to stop but didn't.  Finally she made it to the top and rung the bell, before sliding down the pole and running back over to the man. She had completed all of the tasks, even if she was bleeding she had done it so she was happy. "Time Sir?"  she asked ,hoping she had been under 8 and a half  minutes but knew that ripping herself free from the wire had cost her precious seconds. So it would be more the nine or ten or even eleven to twelve  minute mark. She wiped away the mud and blood from the cut on her face and smiled. Every injury had totally been worth it, even the stinging deeper cut in her left shoulder. Instead of complaining she ripped part of her shirt that wasn't dirty and wiped her shoulder and shrugged. It would heal, but she kept pressure on it for good measure.

PostSubject: Re: Building up Core Strength: Lesson 1 - Auror Training    Building up Core Strength: Lesson 1 - Auror Training EmptySat Dec 06, 2014 3:09 am

Dorian was directing his question to Miss Walters, that is until someone had jumped ship and volunteered their time. He said nothing yet, as she seemed determined to do it first. Letting her go, he studied how she worked. First came her footwork with the rings, while quick, in reality, it was bad balance, it didn't work on her core strength in any way, instead concentrating her weight on the tips of her toes. It was not ideal for combat and quick movements. Her knee formation could have been higher, but he did take notice for her quickness.

When she moved to the rope and the wall, he wondered why she did not use the wall to help her pull her up and anchor herself. The fact that she was wasting most of her upper body on that needed improvement. Every thought he had was immediately scribbled by the charmed scroll and quill beside him. She wasted a good four minutes on simply pulling herself up for his reason. The wall was there for a reason, and what if the rope wasn't there? Twenty feet was not an easy feat to do. As she dropped down, he noticed that she only relied on one knee. Bad. If she landed awkwardly the disbursement of weight would not be in her favor.

Next came the mud. He knew that the mud was thick enough to slow anyone down. He had first been stumped when he was a student as to how that was happening. Still, seeing her movement, he appreciated her fluidity, but she lacked tact. The fact that she allowed herself to get the wires so easily attached was bothersome. A simple lower tactic in movement would have salvaged her shirt and the cuts on her back. As she climbed the rope he noticed that her carelessness in the wires was what slowed her down, considerably actually. As she rang the bell he stopped the time and waited for her to come over.

"Miss...Semele. While I appreciate your enthusiasm, I should remind you that Miss Walters was to decide who would go next. Be careful to listen to direction. Now, as for your work, you were good at the rings, I suggest to be smarter about your distribution of your weight, being small you have that advantage but make sure to land on a firm foot. Next with the wall obstacle, you lost time by not using your resources. If they are there as aid, then you use them, trust me there's not need to ignore them. The mud course was your weakest part. You knew you were getting cut and you could have lowered yourself. In your first lesson you have multiple cuts that while not dangerous were definitely avoidable. I'm grateful for your passion but suggest tact, especially for your body. Overall it slowed your rope climbing at the end, ending your time at..." looking down, "fourteen minutes and fifty seconds. You wasted some time, but overall good attempt. I suggest you can wait for the others to take a turn or go off and clean up. I will send a copy of your evaluation through owl. Next! Miss Walters, care to do the honors? I figure I can choose them from now on."

PostSubject: Re: Building up Core Strength: Lesson 1 - Auror Training    Building up Core Strength: Lesson 1 - Auror Training EmptySat Dec 06, 2014 3:21 am

Listening to the man speak Thana realised that she had jumped the gun and looked sheepishly  over at her friend, "I apologise Brooke. " she said simply. She had done wrong and apologised to her friend.  Standing and listening to the man as he spoke, everything he said was making sense. She listened and mentally took notes as to how she could improve, she nodded respectfully and listened. Her time wasn't that good but it was her first time on the course, plus she hadn't approached it as well as she could of and she hadn't listened to direction. "Understood, apologises  Sir." she answered, nodding to him in respect before moving off to the side.

She wanted to see the others go, but then decided it was probably best to go take a shower. Get a fresh pair of clothes and make sure her father was still alright so very un-Thana like she left class when she could and went to go get cleaned up. Never in all her time at Salem or Hogwarts had she left a single class early if given the chance. She had always stayed to the very end, but made no excuses for being so reckless today and would do her best to do better next time. Walking  off Thana quietly nodded to the Professor as she was leaving and left the field to get cleaned up and use her mirror to see how her father was going in St Mungo's, she could apologise all she wanted to Brooke later but for now was worried about her father.

((OOC: Ang, I'm so sorry for this monster of a post! There were so many things to write about with the course and just.. I got carried away. Sorry for making you read all this! :O))

"I see Miss Walters, I like the way you think." Looking at his class he smirked, "let it be known that because of Miss Walters I will be doing the first run through the obstacle course.

At his words, a tiny grin formed on her face. This was possibly her favourite professor, simply because he was sporting. The compliment was also unexpected, and she hid a blush, not expecting to have been given praise so early on - if at all. His other comment about timing did not affect her very much, because in her mind, finishing the course itself would be an accomplishment.

Watching as he started, she paid very close attention, not taking her eyes off the man as he went through his own course. Every detail she took in, from hand position to footing, trying to commit it to memory. She had expected her Professor to be fit, but this was something new altogether, and she watched in awe as he completed the course. When he came back, she wondered if they should clap, but as he began to speak, decided otherwise.

Before she could answer, she heard her friend volunteer and wondered if she had missed the earlier instructions, but let Thana go anyway. Watching carefully to this time learn from the mistakes of person new to the course, she winced when she saw Thana getting hurt. By the time the witch came back she was covered in mud and blood.

"Are you okay?" Brooke asked, going over to her and glancing over the wounds. "It doesn't look too bad," she muttered to herself, remembering what her mother had told her about cuts and infections and all that - or lecture, more like, after Brooke had fallen down the stairs while distracted with the book she was reading.

Turning back to the Professor, she listened to him speak, learning from the mistakes of her friend. "Nah, forget about it. You didn't mean any harm," she said to the apology from her friend. It was, after all, just that - a mistake. As her friend turned to leave, Brooke frowned. Something was wrong. Very, very wrong - Thana never left class early, ever. "Professor," she started, as soon as she was sure the girl was out of earshot. "I.. I'm not trying to make excuses for her or anything like that, but please don't mark her too badly for that. I know her and I can tell you that she does not behave in that manner normally. Something must be terribly wrong for her to act like that." Gazing at the direction her friend had walked, worry only filled her face as she wondered what could possibly be so bad.

When the man called on her, she took a deep breath and nodded, glad that she didn't have to wait any longer; she would have asked to go next if she had been allowed to choose, anyway.

Moving towards the starting, she tried to calm her nerves, pushing all other thoughts away from her mind. As soon as she was told to begin, she took off, jogging over to the rings before pausing in front of them. The way to do it, she noticed, was to lift her legs nice and high, bending her knees. Except.. Except she was dreadfully clumsy. Taking another breath, she jumped into the first one, and then the second, stopping with one leg in each of the two hoops. "Okay, nice and slow," she murmured, doing exactly just that and taking her time.

At the last one, however, she tripped just as she was exiting the last hoop, the top of her shoe just grazing the outer section. Almost immediately she felt the dang thing secure itself around her ankle as she fell. Picking herself up, she glanced down at it and let out a small curse word, testing out her foot. It was heavier - as expected - and she worried that it would cause her to hurt herself on the other sections. Not stopping any longer to dwell on that, she half jogged half staggered to the next obstacle, not used to the different distribution of weight. Glancing up at the wall, she recalled how the Professor had done it and grabbed the rope with both hands, turning them over a few times to secure them. It took a few seconds to adjust to placing her feet against the wall, but once comfortable, she worked out a system and was up in what she hoped was acceptable time.

Judging the height, she frowned to herself. The Professor had made the jump fairly easy, but could she? It wasn't as though she was completely useless - she had enough experience falling out of the trees that she insisted she climb to know how to fall. Taking an estimated chance, she took the leap, bending her knees and landing with a thump; the extra weight on her left foot made her loose her balance and she went toppling over, but she wasn't hurt other than a few scrapes and bruises (that she was so used to getting, it was almost non-existent to her), and got up almost at once.

The mud pit didn't look too challenging, and, filling her lungs as much as she could, she plunged down, lowering herself as much as possible to escape the tangle of wires above her head. Having grown up playing in mud, it wasn't very difficult for her to manage her way through, wiggling and crawling her way to the front. Misjudging the exit, however, she lifted her head just a bit too soon and felt her hair being pulled by the sharp barbs. "Ow, shit," she muttered as she instinctively pulled herself down and felt the sharp sting, indicating that she had, indeed, lost a patch of hair. Crawling forward a bit more, she was soon free and stood up, massaging the back of her scalp. "Idiot," she scolded herself softly, already making her way forward to the last obstacle.

By now, she had adjusted to the extra weight and made her way with relative quickness to the rope. What did Professor Ashworth do again? she asked herself mentally, seeing it in her mind but not knowing the technique to do so. Shrugging it off, she decided to just grab the rope and figure it out as she went along. It took a few moments, but it suddenly clicked in her mind how to use her feet, but by this time she was already too high to change her style and she adjusted the best she could, pulling with her arms and pushing against it with her feet, forming a make shift method that was most definitely not the best way to do it - but it worked, and she reached the top, using the tip of her fingers to ring the bell. Exhausted, she let her body relax, letting go and jumping down to the ground, landing with a softer thud as she managed this landing better.

Summoning the last of her energy to jog back to where the Professor was, she gave him a tired but proud smile - she had completed the course, and that was definitely something she was happy about. "Not your six minutes and forty-five seconds, Professor," she panted out, still managing a joke as was in her nature. "But how did I do?" With a tiny grin, she motioned to her ankle. "Also, does this stay with me the whole day or is it going to remove itself?" she added; humour was always a given, no matter how physically exhausted she was.

Both her hands were sore and red and beginning to bleed from when she had gripped the ropes, her head was beginning to pound where her hair had been pulled out, and she was so tired she felt like she could sleep for days, but as she stood there, waiting to be told how she could improve, she was happy, truly feeling like this was where she belonged.

Weakness. He had to admit that asking Miss Semele if she wanted to leave was a test. On the field there would be no chance to just leave. He was going to comment, but decided not to considering that it was their first lesson, and they were just learning. So he let it go, nodding towards her direction and hoping she would be smart enough to get fixed up.

"I.. I'm not trying to make excuses for her or anything like that, but please don't mark her too badly for that. I know her and I can tell you that she does not behave in that manner normally. Something must be terribly wrong for her to act like that."

But his kinder demeanor lessened considerably as he noticed that Miss Walters came back from comforting Miss Semele and brought an excuse his way. The fact that she made excuses bothered him more than anything. His mouth formed a straight line as she began to explain. Taking a deep breath he merely signaled her to go, before he began to rip them apart on the first lesson.

"You're wasting our time, please just go."

As she did, he noticed her first mistake; she was clumsy, and didn't lift her legs high enough. It wasn't terrible, but not exactly the smoothest jump through the hoops. He didn't put too much weight on the hoop, it only created an uncomfortable imbalance, which was clear from the way that she was trying to get a hold of it. The wall saved her some time from her hiccup, as she copied his movements. While not a smooth, still he saw she had upper body strength, and made a note to give her ways to improve it. Her legs were steady, yet her nerves kept her from just jumping off.

Muttering to himself, he was impressed by her just diving into the mud. He appreciated her enthusiasm, yet while she looked comfortable in the mud, her movements weren't too smooth. As she reached near the end, she was going to be the first one to make it smoothly and failed, right at the end. He almost winced when he saw her getting stuck. As she ran over to the rope, he saw her moving up awkwardly and weakly. He shook his head but saw her being too late to really do anything about it. Too far up to change movement smoothly. But as she rung the bell, he looked down at the clock .

"Not your six minutes and forty-five seconds, Professor," she panted out, still managing a joke as was in her nature. "But how did I do?"

Her joke wasn't too appreciative, his mood a little annoyed at the fact that she had spoken up, especially in something he took a bit serious. Sighing, he looked at his notes and began to read them aloud.

"Miss Walters I would suggest you start making jokes once you are capable of being quicker time and more smoothly. For one thing, you need to be confident in your movements and the balance of weight. Because of this you touched the hoop. Take into account your own weight and work on your foot placement. Straight foot towards ground with heel works best. Now on for the wall. I applaud you for the use of your legs, this is something that Miss Semele needed to notice. There is no use to waste energy in your arms if you can help it. Now on to the netting, I applaud you diving in, but the movement was a bit hiccupy and you did not manage to get through without any injuries, as your bald spot shows" he drawled, " The rope simply means that you need to work on your upper body strength. Use your legs to help you keep an anchor, but over all an acceptable first attempt at sixteen, thirty-three."

Turning to look at the others, he looked towards the young man and signaled.

"Mister Sparrowhawk, if you could start?"

PostSubject: Re: Building up Core Strength: Lesson 1 - Auror Training    Building up Core Strength: Lesson 1 - Auror Training EmptyTue Dec 16, 2014 1:37 pm

Airen watched as the professor opened up the class. Being on the outside of the gathered group, Airen was one of the first to notice the late girl jog up and stand next to Brooke. Choosing to stay focused, Airen didn't judge. Human error. It happens, he thought to himself. He watched the obstacle course form in the field. The rings that seemed to be a little high for what Airen assumed for the wizard counterpart for muggle tires troubled him. He couldn't see many people getting their legs up that high. Looking down last his own, he figured he might have the agility, but with little to no margin for error. The wall didn't trouble him as much. His agility once again coming into play. Airen then looked at the mudded area under the barbed wire. He figured that going slower in that area would save him any injuries, but it would hurt his time. The final area, he figured that would also be tricky, but he'd try to figure it out.

When the time came to run, Airen set on a steady pace that tried to be both quick but also saved as much energy as possible. He was well behind Brooke and the other girl, but he still kept with the general group. Finishing the lap, Airen kept walking in a small back and forth motion as a form of cool-down. Thankfully, he wasn't out of breath, but he did feel the drain in energy.

He watched as the professor went through the course. Many if not all of Airen's prior thoughts about the course proved to be true. He subtly nodded his head as the professor finished the course with apparent ease. He watched in patient silence as the two girls to their turns. Wincing slightly as Brooke's hair got snagged in the wire, Airen noted to keep his head down. As the professor gave them firm but fair comments, Airen thought to himself that maybe he wouldn't do as well as he first thought, but he quickly pushed that aside.

When Airen was called on, his eyes widened a bit. Not really expecting to be picked first, his heart skipped a beat at the sudden, proverbial spotlight on him. Taking a deep breath and calming down, he ticked his head in a small nod. Taking position, Airen jogged up to the rings. Hiking up his knees and keeping his abs taught, Airen kept the motion through the rings and managed to clear his perceived biggest challenge. Speeding up a bit, he managed a small hop before latching his hand onto the rope and his other slightly higher. Planting the balls of his feet on the wall, Airen began pulling his arms and keeping a crawling motion with his legs to the top, Airen thrust his hands up, grabbing the top of the wall and vaulting over. Landing with a thud that sent a small shockwave through his body, Airen grit his teeth and pushed on quickly toward the mud. Gradually lowering himself as he approached it, the young man held his breath and slid on his belly into the mud. Moving his left arm and right leg at similar times whilst doing the same for the other two appendages, he kept a steady pace through, trying to be quick but also careful to avoid the wire. Hoisting himself out when he had finished, He bolted toward the pole.

Airen felt his right hand tingling and glanced at the gloved body part. No glow, good. Arriving at the pole, he latched on with his hands and crossed his legs around the opposite side of the pole. Pulling with now slightly aching arms, he shimmied his way up the pole, gritting his teeth as his arms protested and willing them on. Tapping the bell and hearing it ring, Airen slid down and landed softly on the ground. Standing up, panting deeply, Airen folded his hands behind his back and stated, "Done, sir," in what were perhaps the first words he had spoken the whole lesson. His right hand was now tingling more and was more than likely glowing under the glove. Hands still behind his back, he massaged his right hand with his left, willing the feeling to pass as he waited for the professor's comments. He didn't bother to look at his time as he was more focused on keeping his little talent hidden.

PostSubject: Re: Building up Core Strength: Lesson 1 - Auror Training    Building up Core Strength: Lesson 1 - Auror Training EmptyWed Dec 24, 2014 12:20 am

Dorian figured that women had taken enough spotlight and he could have a young man take on the course. He noticed that Mr. Sparrowhawk tended to be quiet, not really making an effort to get himself known, something that he couldn't help but respected, but wanted him out of it. So once he signaled the boy, he definitely looked surprised. He didn't deny the request but rather went straight to the obstacle course.

As the boy began, he was impressed by the posture that he took once taking on the hoops. The posture was straight and the knees were pulled high, he murmured something and the quill hurried in its writing. Mr. Sparrowhawk's climbing was very much on point, he had to work on his feet placement, but his upper body was helping him out. The jump was what made him wince, it was not steady and did not help him with the weight distribution. The mud work was smooth, his leg work needed to be a bit quicker, and deeper into the mud, but he was the first to avoid getting any injury.

As he ran to the pole, and began to climb, he was confused as to why he did not use the rope. But as he did so, he shook his head and the quill hurried in it's writing. He had wasted his time on doing it the hard way and didn't listen. As the bell run, he walked back and Dorian studied the boy. Nodding at him, it was a relief realizing he was able to actually talk.

"Very well Mr. Sparrowhawk, now here are a few criticism. I like the fact that you were quick; your knees were high and back was straight, which many should take notice. But, your landing needs some work; you need to balance your weight distribution when doing so, and remember to bend your knees. The mud work was nice, strong leg work. Now, you didn't listen carefully, climbing that pole instead of using that rope to aid you. I appreciate you making it harder for yourself, but you did lose time. Your time is 14.45, fastest time, but you lost it during your pole climbing. Make sure to pay attention, but overall good job. Now...it seems we ran out of time. See you all next lesson."

From The Stationary of Dorian Ashworth

Malfoy, Caelum: While you are clearly one of the most accomplished member of this group, your lack of participation is dreadful. I hope that the next lesson your prove to be the student I know you can be, and participate in activities.

    • Lesson Grade:Barely Acceptable

Parker, Aqua: I appreciate your attendance, but your lack of participation is a bit disappointing. Still, being the first lesson, I hope I hear your voice and see your participation in the next one.

    • Lesson Grade: Barely Acceptable

Semele, Thana Miss Semele, I appreciate your participation in going in first. I see that often times in moments where you try to prove yourself to fail to listen to the directions. Either way, I appreciate your effort and I suggest you listen next time and give opportunity to others. But other than that, good job.

    • Lesson Grade: Exceeds Expectations

Silverstone, Arthur: Mr. Silverstone, you are a quiet soul, but I appreciate your participation in the warm up. It seems we ran out of time and you failed to be able to participate, but either way, perhaps next time I encourage you to stand out from the ladies and take a chance.

    • Lesson Grade: Acceptable

Sparrowhawk, Airen: Mr. Sparrowhawk, you are very quiet, that is my first observation. You do not speak unless spoken to I see, but I appreciate that despite your quietness you push to be put on spotlight. I had to push you for it, and I promise you next time it won’t be that way. Next lesson I expect you to speak up and be seen.

    • Lesson Grade:Exceeds Expectations

Walters, Brooke: Miss Walters, I appreciate your participation and being a first year, means that you have high shoes to fill. But your run, and courage to ask me to do it, makes me appreciate your moxie. You try hard, which is nice to see, but you need to be more assertive and think of yourself before coddling others. Next time, show more effort and work on your core.

    • Lesson Grade: Exceeds Expectations

Overall Comments: You ALL work on your core work and most importantly listening skills. Build your body like you would a temple, care for it and push it to thrive in harsh situations. I shall see you next lesson.[/b]
