    Fern,

Inmtpnoerwtsa. Leeaaddmoannd. Nearmheuxdasvoin. Pionricosnm. Ptseudsypoeuc. Xohvdeirsecd. Tboulsdh. Arlrlaudnadre. Nwohkonloewalkeeddgienoffo. Tcaakree. Ismyiosu.

Jezika folded the letter, her mouth set in a grim line. The owl had woken her up, pecking persistently on her window. She hadn't been expecting any word from anyone in her team. She was supposed to disappear after all and any form of contact between her and the outside world would not only endanger herself but her whole team. But she knew, even before she opened the letter, who had sent it. There was only one person on her team who would break the rules and risk everything to contact her. Her partner. She'd sense the amount of magic that shrouded the owl and it had taken some deep thinking to figure out the unlocking spell.

It was something Jezika and her partner had come up with during a mission where they had to keep in touch without anyone else knowing. The sender would put a spell on the owl and the letter that wouldn't allow anyone see or hear the animal or open the letter unless a certain counter spell was cast. The key spell was usually encoded in the previous letter but since this was the first, she had to figure it out on her own. And she only had three tries before the letter disintegrated. No pressure at all.

Glancing at the clock, she saw it was almost time for class to start. She'd have to decode the letter later. It wouldn't be a problem though. The coding system was in the first word of the letter. Fern. That one name confirmed it was her partner who sent the letter - since no one else dared call her that - and it was also a reference to a case her team had worked on where she went undercover with that name and in which she was forced to communicate with her partner in skip code.

Apparating to the classroom, she set her bag down, closed her eyes and pictured erasing everything from her brain as she exhaled slowly. She'd planned a very important lesson this round and hoped that attendance would be good. This lesson would probably save their lives in the field. She would teach them to lie.

Life had happened. First, it threw Josh at her, and then it threw Josh at Joe, and then it had thrown Joe off the edge of a building. But they had survived it, and they had only gotten stronger from it. And then, when things seemed to be perfect, life tossed her baby out of the world, and Brooke had gone spinning down into a place so dark she didn't think she would ever know what light was again.

But then Cassie had stepped in, and Joe had stood by her side, and they had survived it, and they had only gotten stronger from it.

And the smile on her face was genuine as she stepped into the classroom, head held high, eyes bright and determined. No, Brooke was not a quitter, and life could happen all it liked and throw all sorts of dung at her, and she would only get up again and again and again.

"Hello, Professor!" she greeted cheerfully, looking around and noticing she was the only one there for now. "How are you today?" she asked as she took her usual place in the front row, meaning the question with all she had.

Serafina was genuinely enjoying her classes, and despite the looks she still got from some of those in her circle, she fully intended on continuing. After all, she had Seth to play with, and it wasn't as though Auror classes were boring. Or, at least, not all of them were boring.

Of course, Serafina would never stoop so low as to wear jeans or pants, unless absolutely necessary for the class (she wasn't stupid, and wasn't going to wear a dress for outdoor activities), and so today she was donning a casual black dress. Stepping into class, she looked around, noting one other girl there - a Brooke, she believed - and joined her in the front row.

"Professor," she greeted, glancing at her watch. Class was due to start any time, and she was looking forward to learn.

Jezika opened her eyes and stood up as the first student walked in, smiling slightly at the greeting and question. Ah yes. The friendly one. Not a bad student at all. She returned the greeting but paused a little at the question, weighing how honest she wanted to be with the girl. She was a little surprised at receiving news from her partner - one of five people she trusted entirely. It wasn't that hearing from him was bad. It was just...unexpected and it stirred emotions in her she wasn't ready to deal with yet. Leaving him - and the team - had been difficult for her. But receiving the letter and recognising his familiar scrawl made her long to be back out on the field to be back to the bantering and the teasing she and her partner shared.

"I've seen better days. Thanks for asking," Jezika responded, settling for the truth but not revealing anything. She knew it was important not to let herself get too attached to the people in this academy. She was only here for as long as the mole remained so she wouldn't blow the cover of her entire team and ruin everything.

The next student came and it was obvious to Jezika that she was a Pureblood. The dress alone spoke volumes. She had to remember to send out a note whenever she had physical activity planned so the girl could wear something more...appropriate. She waited for the Pureblood to take a seat before moving to the centre of the classroom.

"Today we will be focusing on undercover work and the aspect that is most important about it. Infiltrating an organisation under an alias requires a clear head and the ability to work under intense pressure. Under no circumstances must you break cover no matter how surprised you may be or how much danger you or your team is in," Jezika paused for a while to let that sink in. There were a few times she had to watch her partner get tortured and force herself not to retaliate. It had been hard, seeing someone she cared about get hurt and not do anything about it. But it came with the job.

"I want you to work on an undercover persona. Start from the basics first. Name. Age. Birthday. Then move deeper into the personality. Likes, dislikes, strengths, weaknesses, family backgrounds. Please write it out and show it to me. If we have time, we will role-play a few scenes. For this whole week, your assignment will be to stay in character unless it is an emergency. When we come back next week, we will discuss how it went," she instructed.

Arthur got ready and apparted himself outside the classroom. He had put on a black T-shirt, jeans and white sneakers. He didn't know if they would be doing any physical activity today but most of his clothes were something he could run in so he thought he would be fine.

"So sorry that I'm late professor," he said after stepping inside. It didn't look like he was too late but he was usually never late and it looked like class had already started. He noticed that Brooke and some other girl was there. He guessed that the other girl was pureblood, aside from the dress there was an air about her that he had learned to associate with purebloods.

Jezika had just finished speaking and was about to put herself to the task of decoding the letter while she waited for the students to come up with their undercover profile when the door burst open and a boy came in. Late. Jezika did not tolerate tardiness. Perhaps it was her training and perhaps it was because being on time saved her life multiple times but she did not and would not abide someone in her class being late - unless they had good reason of course. Then again, this boy was rarely ever late to class and she wasn't one to be unjust.

"Take a seat and don't ever be late again. Punctuality in not only important in university; It is important in the workplace, especially if you chose the Auror major," Jezika paused, letting the truth of her words sink in. "Today, we're working on an undercover persona. Come up with a profile. Name, age, birthday, parents, background, personality anything that makes a person a person. Keep it brief and to the point. We may role-play a few scenes in class but once you leave and class is over, you have to keep in character for the rest of the week and only break cover if it is an emergency. If you have no questions, you may start."

Arthur nodded and took his seat. He was glad that she hadn't asked him why he was late. He didn't have a good answer, he had just over slept. Arthur remembered having a dream and he rarely had dreams. Perhaps this was a new vision, the visions had no pattern in coming. There might have been some sort of pattern for a while but often there was not.

Arthur thought over all his own details. He'd keep his real birth place, aside from his accent he knew London well enough, the Wizard part of it anyway. He decided to say that he was half blood or muggle born. Being a pure blood might draw some attention. There weren't a lot of pure blood families and pure bloods kept track of their family tree. Perhaps he could be Ian Smith. Ian was his middle name but it was also a fairly common first name. John Smith sounded too much of an obvious alias.

It occurred to him that he might have to break his cover to Aqua. Or Amerix. They knew his real name after all, Aqua even knew about his father dying although not the full details.
