Maitland fiddled with his tie, just a tad worried about his first day teaching at Merlin's. He'd already met a few of the staff, a few of the students, and prepared his lessons meticulously. To blow off extra nerves, he'd ran three miles in the morning in a record of twenty two minutes, after he took a shower. With all the preamble he usually used in assembling his outfit, he picked something professional but not intimidating. A suit would come off too strict and vests irritated him so he left the blazer off to bear a white button up and navy blue slacks with brown loafers. The watch Isaiah had mailed him for Christmas was secured on his wrist and his tie was a carmine red to contrast the blue of his pants. He was clean shaven and had slicked his dark blond hair to one side in a clean but not restricting manner as it was subject to fall into his face at any given moment. After he dressed he drank Darjeeling tea with an English muffin and butter to calm the anxiety. He was almost at ease as he apparated to Merlin's.
His wand was in one hand as he perched himself atop his desk as he hummed a catchy tune from the radio whilst tapping his foot on the floor, and tapped his foot on the floor. He bit his lower lip for a moment before quick in clean and eligible scrawl wrote upon the board:
Professor Maitland Ritter, replacing for Professor Carter as he has taken on healing again, please refer to me as Professor Ritter. I also teach Poisons and Antidotes for the Potioneer's department and to begin this lesson once you enter please inform me of your name and preferred learning technique (i.e: hands on learning, lecturing with notes, slide show with explanation, etc.). Thank you for your cooperation should you give it.
Satisfied with the pay off from the calligraphy lessons Bella prompted him to take, Maitland crossed his arms over his chest and waited with an impassive face for students to file in. He hoped things would be better here than they were at Beauxbatons or Durmstrang.
