Mildred made himself a cup of coffee. Well he put water and grounded coffee beans in a cup and used magic to heat it up. Then he stirred it with a spoon and wondered if he could enchant a coffee maker to work without electricity or if that would be completely futile.

He sat down, still pondering the question partly because it was more pleasant to think about than sick patients or long shifts. He knew some electronics could be enchanted and others couldn't but couldn't recall the list off the top of his head.

I'm asking the really important magically questions, he thought with amusement before sipping his coffee.

Michelle had worked quite hard these days now. She wanted to be good at this job and wanted to be noticed. She still wasn't that great like most people here but she tried, she still only knew about magic since she was 11 and learned all her knowledge about magic when she was in magical school.

Now she decided to take a little break from her work, so she walked into the Healer's Lounge and walked over coffee machine. She did make herself some coffee there. She did notice that there was someone else too.

When her coffee was ready she purred it into her cup and did sat down too. "Hello," she said with a small smile.

"Hello," Mildred said snapping out of his thoughts. "Err, Dr Hastings isn't it?" He was pretty sure that he had heard someone refer to her as such at some point. Her first name escaped him and he didn't think he had ever known it. Whatever is was he doubted it was as bad as Mildred.

"I'm Mildred James," he continued. He considered offering her his hand but decided against it as them having to reach across the table to shake hands or having to get up didn't sound comfortable. He gave her a small smile instead.

"Yes my last name is Hastings," she said there with a small smile. She still would prefer if people called her by her first name but she doesn't go and tell it to everyone. Also all healers are mostly called by their last names for sure.

"I'm Michelle Hastings," she said her name there now back too with a smile. She did take a zip from her coffee. She really wasn't sure about what they could talk now. She really didn't know Mildred James well enough to began chat over about random things. "It's nice to meet you Mildred James," she said there now. She thought hand shaking right now wasn't really good idea.

Michelle. It wasn't a bad name. Well he'd consider anything better than his name but still. Thankfully most of the people here just called him Doctor James. His last name wasn't anything he had a problem with. Most people probably preferred being called by their first name but he hadn't known hers earlier.

"Its nice to meet you too," he said. He drunk his cup of coffee and tried to think of something to add. He had never been that good at small talk. His sister would have done better in this situation. "How has your shift been going?"

She doesn't really hate it when people use her last name but it's just bit odd for her. Also same way was when she was professor but she asked from everyone to call her Michelle and some of did it too. Now being healer again was challenge for sure.

She smiled and did take zip from her coffee. "So far as been good," she said there with a smile. "What about yours?" she asked back from him. Too be honest Michelle wasn't that good with small talk either. It was harder than it looked for sure for her.

"Pretty well. Its certainly been tiring though." Mildred tried to think of something interesting to say but his mind was drawing a blank. "Umm, what do you like to do outside of work?"

He wondered if they had anything other than the job in common and wondered if he could keep the conversation going if they didn't. Michelle seemed nice and it could be good for him to get to know one of his fellow Healers. Making friends in general sounded nice, he had never had a lot.

He drank his coffee as he waited for her to answer.
