| University hadn't technically started yet, but Callum had already moved into the nearby village, renting a house at a cheaper rate than usual. Apparently, the landlady was very persuasive and it had taken him all of fifteen minutes. It was a temporary cut, until he could "get a proper job", but it was extended for a whole year.
Callum would not tap into his father's money if he could help it, instead opting to make his own way through life.
He had a few weeks till classes started, and for once he was early and not just on time, but Callum had wanted it this way. It would be so much easier for him to have a feel of the place as well as familiarise himself with the environment before things kicked off. Besides, it would take time to find a job he was actually interested in doing, wherever in the world it was; with apparation, he didn't mind if his job was in Jakarta, so long as it fascinated him and didn't bore him.
Like fruit picking in Australia, or herding sheep in New Zealand, or pressing grapes in South Africa. Perhaps that was what would be the best for him - taking on odd jobs as he did to fuel his travelling.
In any case, he hadn't decided yet, and he still had time. Today, he would spend the daylight scouting the University. Stepping out into the grounds, Callum squinted slightly against the sun as he continued moving, taking only a few seconds to adjust. As he made his way to the edge of the lake, he stuck his hands in his pockets, thinking back to all his different adventures over the past 5 years, and just walked.

| ["Yeah, it's pretty clear I ain't the same as you but I can shake it shake it like I'm supposed to do. Cause I got that boom boom that all the boys chase and all the right moves in all the right places," Braelynn sang quietly as she strolled leisurely towards the lake.
Classes would be starting soon and she wanted to get as much sunshine as she could before cooping herself up in her dorm to study. Harmony was stretching her wings somewhere in the air above but Braelynn didn't have to worry about the parrot. She'd trained the bird to come when she whistled and of course Harmony only obeyed when she was in the mood to do so. It frustrated Braelynn sometimes but she still loved the bird.
A smile came to her face as she recalled her summer visit to her hometown of Derby-shire. It had been amazing to see her family again after two years. How she missed them! Even her annoying brothers didn't bother her as much and it was fun to catch up with her sister and talk about the boys that were after her. She hoped her sister would find as good a man as Travis. Ah, Travis. Braelynn grinned at the thought of her boyfriend. There were times when she couldn't believe he was her boyfriend but she was beyond happy with him.
"Cause every inch of you is perfect from the bottom to the top - " Braelynn stopped abruptly when she spotted someone at the lake, someone she didn't recognise. "Hi there!" she greeted brightly, hoping he hadn't heard her last line. Now, that would be embarrassing.

| He heard the singing before he realised someone was fast approaching, but didn't turn, guessing that the person probably would be embarrassed to be caught doing something like that. She had a pretty decent voice - not the best, but not even close to the worse - and at once Callum was intrigued. He had to meet this person.
And, as luck would have it, she seemed to be as interested as meeting him as he was her. Turning and pretending to be surprised to see someone there, he offered her a smile.
"Fancy meeting you here," he greeted, as though he knew her. And he did, actually - he recognised her from an advertisement on YouTube. A wannabe singer that was slowly gathering views, from what he remembered. She did gigs with some guy that Callum wasn't all too interested in.
It wouldn't be his first time meeting someone famous, but it would be his first time being able to claim he was with someone just before they became famous, which was something that sounded quite interesting. Unless she was dating that male she sang with, of course. He wasn't exactly in the habit of breaking up relationships. Of course, if a female made the first move, who was he to deny them what they wanted?
It took him a second or so to place her name, but by then he had already stuck out his hand. "James Lennox. Pleasure to meet you, Braelynn. I must say, it's quite an honour." Making a mental note to actually watch her videos when he next had a chance, he let his smile widen as he waited for her response. |

| Although a rather friendly person by nature, Braelynn wasn't accustomed to meeting new people at the Sapphire Lake. She frequented the spot often since it reminded her of a similar lake back home in Derby shire. The atmosphere especially helped her during composition.
As of late, she'd been spending more and more time at the lake because of well, her roommate. Mac had gone through a bad breakup and was pushing Brae away. Tired of the depressed atmosphere in her room, she began spending her hours by the lake, writing lyrics and making melodies which she found out was much easier with a boyfriend like Trav. Who knew one could write that many love songs about one man?
But this was her first time seeing someone else at the lake other than her own reflection. And for the life of her, she could not recognise him, yet he spoke as if he knew her.
"Um. Am I supposed to know you?" she questioned, a puzzled look in her eyes.
She guessed him to be at least three years older than her. He was good looking but couldn't hold a candle to Travis and somehow she got the feeling that he was very cocky.
She took his offered hand tentatively, unsure if she liked shaking hands with a total stranger who knew her name. The last part of his introduction made her pause as the wheels in her brains turned. Wait...honour to meet me? He can't be a fan, can he? She wasn't incredibly famous but some of her videos did gather a few views.
"Nice meeting you too," she replied with a friendly smile. "I assume you've seen my videos on YouTube?"
With that assumption came the implication that he was either a muggleborn, a halfblood or a very open minded pureblood. Either way, she was beyond exited to meet someone who knew of her. She couldn't wait to tell Trav.

| As he heard her answer, he couldn't help but chuckle inwardly at her answer. "No, but you will soon enough," he replied, calmly, without a trace of hesitation. How she took that was up to her.
The question made him pause for a moment, wondering how he could answer without outright lying. While skirting around the truth and telling half-truths were perfectly fine, he didn't particularly enjoy telling outright lies - not beacuse they ate away at his conscience (he scoffed at that idea, really) but because they were always so tedious to have to remember. It was much easier to just stick to the truth (even if it wasn't the whole truth) and avoid the whole deal with remembering what you told which person.
"Yes, I have," he replied, shrugging and slipping his hand back into his pocket. It was, after all, not a lie. He had seen it on YouTube. He had just never watched one before; it had popped up in his suggestion feed, and he had glanced at the title before moving on. Technically that counted as having seen it. "And I must say, you are a very good singer. I'm surprised more people haven't heard of you."
Again, he wasn't telling a fib; he had, after all, just heard her singing. Smiling back at her, Callum waited a few seconds before continuing. "What bring you out to the lake today, and alone at that?" |

| His reply made her pause again. What did he mean by that? All she got from it was that this guy was very confident and sure of himself. To the point of being...arrogant. Was he always like this? "And why is that?" she responded, trying to understand what was going on in his mind. "Are you planning on making a name for yourself?"
Her eyes lit up at his affirmative answer and compliment. "Thank you! It means a lot to me to get feedback," she replied with a smile. Sure there were comments on her videos but it wasn't the same as talking to a person face to face.
"Yeah, I have to divide my time between school work and music," she responded. "Publicity is not that easy!" It was hard work to be recognised in the music industry. She didn't particularly like talking about herself to other people since most of them would think she was bragging. And being in a magical community where the use of social media was not common did not make it any easier.
"I'm just enjoying nature while I can. Once classes start, there's not much time for relaxing," Braelynn replied. Most of the time, classes were indoors and any time not spent in classes was spent was spent studying in her dorm or in the library. She took any chance she could to get outside for a change of scenery.
The flapping of wings alerted her to Harmony's presence and a few seconds later, the bird landed on her shoulder. "And I'm not alone," she added with a grin.
Harmony cocked her head, eyeing the person before her. "Squawk! Stranger! Squawk! Hello!"
