Caelum's upbringing was typical of a pureblood household.  He was raised to be prim, proper, respectful, but most importantly, closed-off.  From a young age it was in his best interests to keep what he truly felt hidden within, because purebloods were not meant to share their dislike of muggle-borns anymore, not since the second war.  Despite the time that had passed since the war, some traditions refused to die, and his father specifically found it difficult to reject the idae of blood purity.  His parents did their best to convince him to keep similar blood-prejudiced views to himself - but it was never an issue for Caelum.  He hadn't believed in blood purity in the first place, and certainly believed it less when he started at Hogwarts and was consistently in the presence of those who weren't pure of blood.  When his sister, Capella, died of illness not long after being born, Caelum found himself developing a more withdrawn and closed-off side, further helping in the development of concealing his emotions beneath a mask.  Something that his parents had wanted, though even with their flaws, they loved him enough to not have wanted him to suffer through that in order to develop such a mask.

As he grew, Caelum's parents focused their attentions on crafting the most intelligent child out of him.  Constant tutoring was undergone before he'd even started at Hogwarts, and during the summer holidays, he devoted his time to quidditch and more studying.  A restless child, he became tired of the classroom environment, but was never so bold as to tell his parents.  He had perfected the art of his mask, and was excellent at fooling his parents into believing that he was a model student, when he'd gotten into trouble on more than one occasion.  Fortunately, it was never something so vulgar that any messages need to be sent home.  Still, the constant tutoring and pressure from his parents to achieve high marks ended up with him passing school with completely O's, much to his relief.  And despite his hatred of transfiguration, he did well in that subject too.  After doing so well, he was gifted with his invitation to Merlin's, and was very proud of himself for doing so.  Once arriving, he found himself not drawn towards potions like his younger sister was, but towards auror training.  There was something so enticing about protecting others, and Caelum swiftly fell in love with the hands-on approach of this teaching.

Though, nothing comes without writing and reading, but it was and is bearable to Caelum, so long as he can pretend to be on a secret mission every now and then.
