Ceyal stalked into the forest, his guitar case slung over his shoulder, his harmonica safely in his pocket and faithful Yophi by his side. He was bored to death. It was the Christmas holidays and to make matters worse, classes were cancelled. When he got the news he was in a bad mood for weeks. He still was. It didn't make any sense to him. Why cancel classes just because the weather was bad? He hated cancelled classes. He hated holidays even more. There was just something about everyone being happy and cheerful that grated his nerves.

More annoying was the fact that he had absolutely nothing to do. Nada, niente, nichts, nihil. Yeah, that's right. He was so bored he'd taken up looking 'nothing' and translating it into four different languages. He always hated breaks with a passion. They gave him nothing to do. He had no family to visit and no friends to hang out with. Then again, he'd make a choice not to make friends. It wasn't something he did. His policy was to get through university unnoticed and undisturbed. Go in, study, graduate, get out. It was as simple as that. He didn't regret that decision at all.

Quickening his pace, he reached a thick growth of brush and trees. Looking around to make sure no one was looking, he slipped through. A small clearing enclosed on all sides by towering trees and thick bushes met his eyes. He'd discovered this place entirely by accident when Yophi, in a rare moment, bounded through the bushes. He was familiar with the place and besides the lake, it was one of his favourite spots to go to. He only went to the lake after midnight to avoid bumping into other students but during the day, this was where he came. People who didn't know this place wouldn't know it existed. It allowed him privacy and silence. Two things he loved.

Not minding the snow at all, he settled himself comfortably on the ground and took out his harmonica to play a few tunes. Yophi sniffed around a bit then laid down beside him with a huff. He found himself playing the melody of the song he'd completed a few months back, the one he'd written for Eloise entitled Find A Way. Finding that he couldn't, for some reason, complete playing the song, he set his harmonica aside, leaned against a tree and closed his eyes. A movement beside him told him that Yophi moved and a second later, the familiar weight of her head rested against his thigh.

Melody walked though the forest and watched her breath fog up in the crispy winter air. She had began to get the know the forest pretty well.

The snow was easy enough to tread though and she wondered if cancelling classes had been necessary, it was hardly storming out. But then there were the more outdoorishy majors to consider.

She heard a harmonica being played and decided to follow after the sound. The music lead her to a clearing where she saw a man and some kind of animal. So he was the one who had playing. She wasn't sure what she should do but she figured she had come this way and might as well say something before setting off again.

"Its a lovely song," she said once she was closer.

Ceyal was just beginning to enjoy his solitude, thinking again of what would happen if he found Eloise. It was the only thing that he imagined turning out well. It was his only hope after all. He lived to find her. Everything else lacked meaning. Well, except Yophi. Yophi was his constant companion, the only one that didn't annoy the life out of him, the only one he could trust to have his back. Though he hated classes being cancelled and though he was bored, he loved his solitude which was why his annoyance level reached an dangerously high level when Yophi growled low in her chest.

Ceyal pried his eyes open and glanced down at the husky, noting her curled back lips and fur standing on end. Intruder alert! He himself felt like growling at that sign. Following her gaze he saw a girl enter his sanctuary. His dark brown, almost black, eyes took her in coolly and none too friendly from the top of her head to her feet then back up to her face. She looked average, not having any features that stood out. He didn't know her since his preferred social interaction was none at all. It wasn't anything physical per se that annoyed him. It was because she'd intruded into his hiding place, into his solitude. He was considering making her leave him alone when she opened her mouth to speak.

    "Its a lovely song,"

Ceyal resisted the urge to roll his eyes in front of her but his expressionless gaze never wavered from her face as he studied her. After a few moments, he tightened his jaw and gave her a curt nod before returning his gaze to Yophi and putting a calming hand on the husky's shoulders. The dog met his eyes and Ceyal gave in to the urge to roll it knowing the girl couldn't see it. This time, Yophi's lips curled back in a doggy grin.

In a whisper he said, "Rămâne." He watched as Yophi's gaze swept to the girl then back to him then back to the girl again. Ceyal could still see caution in Yophi's eyes but knew that the dog wouldn't attack the girl after his command. It was how he trained her. He commanded her in Romanian so that there was less of a chance for strangers to command her unless they were Romanian or they knew the language. Then again, Yophi didn't obey anyone but him.

He hadn't intended to be outright rude but it was just him. He hated social interactions with a passion and after being able to get through a whole year without interacting with anyone, it annoyed him to no end to have to bump into someone in his precious haven here in the woods. He'd have to find another secret hiding place.

Expect for a command to his dog, the man hadn't said anything. She didn't recognize the language but guessed that he had told his dog to stay. From his nod and the way he had studied her she guessed that she had at least been acknowledged.

Perhaps following the song had been a stupid idea. What should she do now that she was here? What would she have done if he had sicked his dog on her? She didn't think that he would now but there wasn't any reason to stay.

"I think I heard it before but I can't remember when or where," she said wistfully. She tried to grab onto the memory but nothing solid formed.

Ceyal was never the best at tolerating something he didn't like. He'd endure it in silence for a while until he got sufficiently irritated, then he'd walk away. Or if he couldn't walk away, he'd say the rudest things imaginable to humankind. It was how he passed through Hogwarts unnoticed with no friends at all. Not that he wanted any friends to begin with. They were troublesome. Making friends meant work and Ceyal had better things to do with his time.

He'd never spoken more than a couple of very necessary words to classmates. After all, talking with people meant sharing more about yourself and Ceyal wouldn't ever let that happen as long as he was sane. He had nothing to share and everything to protect about himself. His classmates had numerous names and titles for him, some not so nice. He didn't care though. He never did. What people thought of him didn't matter. Why should it when it didn't affect him in the slightest bit?

But he wasn't always like that to everyone. He had to discern the level of rudeness based on the situation and the person. Some could brush it off, some would verbally abuse him and some would scoff. Those, he didn't care about. Others however, would take it personally and end up hurt. Those were the hardest to handle because he had to have some semblance of politeness. No matter how much he wanted to be alone, he wouldn't turn into his father. Not while there was breath in his body and brains in his head.

He wasn't sure yet which category this particular girl fit into. She didn't seem the type to fight back or brush off and yet she didn't quite fit the profile for girl-running-off-crying. Then there was that comment about the song. There was no way she could have heard it before. It was his composition, unless she misheard the tune and thought it was a different song.

Ceyal settled for a 'hmpf' in reply. There was nothing else to say. Most people usually gave up on talking with him after trying and failing to get more than a few words out of him. Seeing this girl's reaction would be interesting. He had to tread carefully though. He didn't want to hurt her.

Well this is pointless, Melody thought. She doubted that she would even get his name out of him and she wasn't the type to really push people. If he didn't want to talk to her then why should she bother?

"Erm, sorry for bothering you then," she said. Melody wasn't entirely sure where she planned to go. She could head back to the castle but she could also walk around a bit more. She knew the way back and it was still early. Yes continuing her walk sounded nice.

With the moment of hestiation gone Melody turned around and walked off.
