Lisa, Jacob, and Grace were born to a halfblood mother and a muggle born father. Lisa and Jacob were only two years apart and Jacob and Grace were nearly six years apart, making an age gap of eight years between Grace and her older sister. Victor and Mary were loving parents and supported their children in any way they could. All three went to Hogwarts. Lisa and Jacob were both sorted into Gryffindor, and much to the family’s surprise, Grace was sorted into Ravenclaw. Lisa went on to become one of the best Healers in the town her and her husband, Isaac, decided to settle down in. Jacob went on to travel the world in search of rare creatures.
Grace decided to open a bookstore.
She was never one to take risks. Grace much preferred the comfort of a good book than the company of others. She spent a few years operating her bookstore before she met Kyle Hensley. Kyle was everything Grace wished she could be: confident, driven, and adventurous. After only a few months of dating, the charming man Grace fell in love with proposed to her. Grace took the first big risk of her life and said yes.
He showered her in love and affection and was overjoyed when they welcomed their son, Samuel James Hensley, into the world. Sadly, a year after Samuel was born, Kyle became distant and agitated with Grace whenever she asked him about his day. He worked late and left early in the mornings. He worked weekends. Holidays. Grace became frustrated and called him at work one night. His secretary answered and told her that Kyle had left work hours before Grace had called.
Once her husband came home that night, she demanded answers. After an hour of fighting, Kyle began to cry and shouted at Grace, claiming that everything was her fault. Apparently, Kyle had been cheating on Grace with several women over the past year. Devastated, Grace filed for divorce the next day. Once the divorce was finalized, Grace changed her and her son’s surnames back to her maiden name, Preston. She then packed up their belongings and the bookstore and relocated to Avalon and reopened her store. Grace now has a bit more of a backbone and a better sense of people.
Recently her hands are full with a five year old who is already showing signs of magic and with running a bookstore. But, as Grace would tell anyone who asked, she wouldn’t change it for the world.
