When Veronika and Feliks Mikhail welcomed their baby girl into the world, they were thrilled. When she showed signs of magic, they were terrified. They paid for the “finest education money could buy”, meaning, an education as far away from them as possible. As a part of her education, Katia learned several languages. A few years later, Katia graduated at the top of her class, showing not only skill for language but also psychology. Once she graduated, Katia was recruited to a magic government agency that would prefer not to be named. Although she lacked physical strength, she showed aptitude for manipulating others any way the agency deemed fit, even without the use of magic.
Katia made the mistake many agents made. She fell in love. Not only that, but she fell in love with her partner, Dimitri Markovic. They kept their relationship a secret for as long as they could, but eventually people found out and they had to make a decision: break up or one of them needed to leave the agency. Dimitri and Katia refused to part ways, and reluctantly, Katia decided that she would be the one to leave the agency and find employment elsewhere.
Her job search lead her to Merlin’s Academy. To be exact, it lead her to the position of Interrogation Professor. Her first year of teaching was rough. In the classroom, everything was fine. The students were respectful, the other professors were kind to her. However, her personal life was hell. Katia tells people that Dimitri passed away in a tragic car accident. In reality, he was betrayed by his new partner, which is a story for another day. Now, Katia is determined to bring down the man responsible for Dimitri’s death.
