| The Great Hall emptied out; each of the people hoping to have a turn in the tournament. The centre of attention comes from the area where the podium rests. At the top of the stairs was a pedestal holding a wide chest. It is not only that someone would instantly be attracted to; it is a bit shabby, and not to mention very torn. There are hints of water damage; the lock is tightly and made of a strong metal. The key lies on the side of the chest.
Once you approach it, it begins to rattle. What do you want to do?
A) Open the Trunk by hand
B) Open with Alohomora
C) Ignore and continue walking down the hall. |

| Just a few months prior and Parker might not have been very interested in involving himself in the tournament. The idea behind it, the tradition, was interesting and all, but it wouldn’t have seemed worth the effort. He wouldn’t have thought himself capable of getting through it if it was anything like the Triwizard Tournament he’d been witness to during his time at Hogwarts. Plenty more people were far more deserving of whatever prizes were being offered. Lately, however, things weren’t seeming so impossible or beyond his capabilities. It was a weird feeling to have, confidence.
Parker started to make his way out of the Great Hall with everyone else, but his wandering eyes caught the sight of a chest that seemed rather out of place given its shabby, worn-down condition. Those around him shoved past as his pace slowed, his curious eyes taking in the odd site. Something about its placement seemed very intentional and Parker found himself drawn towards it, wanting to at least take a closer look before he went about his day.
Only when he got closer did he notice the slight rattle and the key placed at its side, as if begging to be used. Parker swallowed hard, a sinking feeling in his gut telling him to just leave it be and move on. But his hand betrayed him, reaching out and taking the cool metal between his fingers. The thought of drawing his wand to aid in opening or to defend against something within the chest didn’t even occur to him. He glanced over his shoulder to see the last of the students filing out as he brought the key into the lock and turned.

| You decide to be brave and open the trunk using the key instead of magic. At first, nothing happens; it appears to be empty, but before you have a chance to look properly, something starts to emerge. Stepping back, you watch in absolute horror as a black mist hovers in front of you. A few seconds pass, and then, before your very eyes, it suddenly turns into the thing you fear the most. It's a boggart! You realize you cannot run; you must defeat the creature before you can move on. Preparing yourself, you face off with your worst fear.
Defeat the boggart to receive your next clue. |

| Parker hefted up the heavy lid of the mysterious, worn-down trunk to see nothing inside. A part of him felt relieved, another disappointed... at what, he wasn't entirely sure. Perhaps some elves had been cleaning out an old back room just before the announcement and had forgotten it behind in their haste. However, just as Parker took a step back from the trunk, a thick black mist began to materialize before him. Any and all warmth seemed to be sucked out of the air. The sickening drop in his gut, the overwhelming helplessness that consumed him... he'd realized he just released a boggart.
The colour drained from his face as he stumbled back from the shifting mist, hands shaking as he grabbed for his wand. A large body of water formed before him, a dark reflection that mirrored the Black Lake back at Hogwarts, and Parker vividly remembered how horribly his third year class went when they first faced these creatures. Vividly remembered dark waves choking him as he was dragged deep below. But this wasn't third or first year anymore. He was an adult now and it had been so long since his experience at the lake that the fact that this creature could bring back that dreadful fear so strongly really shook him.
He lifted his wand and opened his mouth, but his words caught in his throat when he saw clawed hands and swirling bodies under the water's surface. Grindylows.
"Ri..." his voice faltered and he swallowed hard as he tried to conjure up positive memories for the spell despite the crushing negativity that was starting to make him feel faint. He gripped his wand tightly to focus, raising his voice - "Riddikulus!"
On this second attempt, the dark swirling waters of the Black Lake imitation turned into a bright beach - just like the one Parker had visited with Tess at the start of the summer. Still clutching his wand tightly, he let out a deep breath he didn't know he'd been holding. He stared down at the chest, completely drained and confused. |

| Despite the hiccup in the beginning you successfully managed to defeat it, and you sigh in relief and you watch it immediately descend back into the chest. The top of the trunk closes itself and the lock magically secures itself back. The trunk begins to rattle again. Taking a few moments to relax, you can’t help but notice something has fallen out and is now laying on the ground just in front of the locked trunk. You go and pick it up and find it is a scroll that reads: The next path is one that leads you to the most vicious yet magnificent beasts to ever roam our magical realm. Despite their brash nature, they are tameable, if you have a strong heart. This place is always warm from the fire emitted from the beast. Come find the next clue. It will be tied to the entrance. Where do you go? (Please place your answer at the bottom in bold or colour, just like you would when given options.) |

| Parker pocketed his wand and tugged clammy hands through his messy hair. He closed his eyes tightly as the black mist found itself back within the chest, the top of which closed with a loud thump and rattle. Parker tried to keep that memory of his time at the beach with Tess in the forefront of his mind as warmth started to fill the hall again. His nausea settled down and he opened it eyes to see an equally worn scroll with tight, neat writing on it.
His brows knit together as he read over the scroll cautiously.
A... clue?
Was this the first part of the tournament? It couldn't be, could it? If it were, what kinds of predicaments were other students finding themselves in to begin their participation? Parker wasn't even fully sure he wanted to be a part of this... yet there he was, already walking out of the Great Hall towards the dragon stables with the damned scroll in hand. It was already getting late, so perhaps he should have just waited until the next day but something drew him on. He needed to be sure.

| After thinking about it, you figure out what you hope is the right answer, and walk towards the dragon stables. The heat is felt immediately when nearing the grounds; the need to see fire is unnecessary, as the heat emitted from their warm bodies is felt even on the grounds. You approach the fenced off area and notice that there are four separate paths with different coloured tiles that lead to the stables. There is a gate blocking each path and a signboard nearby that has a note on it. It reads: There are four paths that lead you may take. Each path holds a different journey, and you may only take one. Don't take too long to decide! Once you have chosen, simply speak the colour name and the gate will open. Beware not to stray off the path, and good luck. Which path will you take? A) The red path B) The blue path C) The green path D) The bronze path |

| Parker wasn't a regular visitor to this part of the grounds, seeing as he wasn't all too interested in dealing with dragons at all. But the warmth radiating from the ground as he approached instilled a strange sense of comfort that melted away the cold fear from not too long before.
Taking in the sight of the four different paths before him, Parker paused and read the note on the signboard that was in the same neat font as the note from the boggart chest. He sighed and looked down the green path, muttering aloud the colour as he started walking towards the gate.

| You follow the green path down to a door. After opening it, you step inside to find that you are in an enclosure. In front of you, behind thick and enchanted glass, is a dragon. It has beautiful green scales and, as you watch, it blows out narrow jets of fire, followed by a surprisingly musical roar. Looking around, you notice that, in front of the glass, is a sheet of paper and a quill. On the paper are 3 questions, which you must answer in order to get your next clue. The questions are: 1) What is the name of the dragon? 2) How long is the dragon? 3) Where is it commonly found? Answer the questions correctly to receive your next clue. Answers can be placed in a spoiler or left at the end of the post in bold or colour. |

| It takes some time and effort, but you are able to find the answers. You place them back on the table and a few seconds later, it disappears in a puff of green smoke. You got it right! A fresh question paper appears for the next person, and beside it, a scroll. You pick it up and read. It says: Your journey continues on to the place where many things grow. Big, small, magical and non, these things provide us with oxygen; without them we could not survive. Kept at a constant temperature, this place is home to hundreds of these items, carefully taken care of by our gardeners. Where do you go? | You figure out what you hope is the right answer and start out towards the grounds.
Arriving at the greenhouses, you see a sign on the door that points towards a path leading into the forest. Following it, you walk for a few minutes before you see something up ahead. On the ground you see a plant blocking your way. It covers the entire path and is a dark colour. At first it appears to be a soft, springy mass of roots, but as you approach it comes to life and starts to move, almost like a pile of snakes. You have to get past it in order to continue, and as you look around, you find nothing to help you.
Deciding to use magic, you slip out your wand and prepare to cast. As you are about to, however, you think of a second option - you can try and run past it.
What do you do?
A) Move wand in rainbow motion B) Move wand in loop the loop motion C) Run |
