Cassana slept on the right side of the bed. Currently she had her face buried in one pillow as consciousness was returning to her after a great eight hours of sleep. She found out that being married was a great way of life so far.

She loved waking up with the feeling of another person on her other side or with arms around her (but that was a rarity). It was, so cliche of her, but screw it, life was kind of just one large cliche for the most part, but it felt right to share the bed with someone else. It was king-sized bed that was far too big for her if she didn't share it with someone else. The fact that the someone else was her husband was just sort of a plus. Granted he got under her skin and tended to get her angrier than anyone to walk the face of the Earth, she had a deep fondness for him that was almost like the way she felt for her ex-boyfriend, Thom, from Tituba's but not quite. The way she felt for Devin was deeper, stronger, and it was more prominent and potent than any other feeling before.

    She loved him.

It was sort of scary, but it was thrilling too. It made her jubilant to wake up and see his peaceful face in the mornings, it was almost like his usual passive face, but softer, and in that aspect sweeter as well. Because she'd been Cassana Brennham for a year as of lately, she knew him well enough to guess that most of the emotion behind his eyes weren't kind. She had grown accustomed him, to the way he took his tea to the way he preferred his pasta and even the way he favored casting spells. She smiled now, her eyes still closed in sweet memory of his face. It was strange to think she was no longer Cassana Rose, but rather Cassana Brennham but she would have it no other way.

She would have it no other and to no other person.

Her heart swelled in thought of her husband, now ready to awaken and start the day. She opened her eyes ready to great him good morning to find an empty bed.

"Dev?" She called out, her voice hoarse from sleep.

Second Times the Charm (Devana) Max-3-max-irons-31030184-500-661

365 days. It had taken about half of this (almost 5 months, to be exact) before he realized his feelings were beginning to change. It took him another 2 months to realize exactly what it was: love. Something he had never ever believed in (he still didn't quite, at that point), and yet... Now he found it amusing, remembering with some embarrassment what he thought it had been the first time.

All those months ago, he had woken up in his room (while married, they didn't exactly share a bed most nights, usually because they had gotten into another fight) and thought of Cassana. His stomach had givin a tiny flip and his heart beat increased. Now, Devin had no idea what this was and naturally assumed he had caught a stomach virus. So, moving down the the kitchen area, he began to brew a potion to help, but it didn't work and every few minutes he would feel that horrid churning fluttery feeling in the pit of his stomach that made him almost light headed. It was something completely new to him, and in all honestly Devin just did not understand what it could be.

For two whole days he suffered, even going so far as to asking Cassana (whose potions were among the only ones he actually trusted) to make him something to help. The answer came quite unexpectedly, and served as a right shock for the Brennham heir - he had gone to purchase a new book and a magazine cover caught his eye. Butterflies in your stomach? the title screamed, and it took him a few moments to realize that was exactly what he had been feeling - he just didn't know how to describe it. Making sure nobody could see what he was up to, Devin opened the magazine to the page.

To his utmost horror, the words, "Is it love or a crush?" in bright red was written at the top of the article, which he did not end up reading. Leaving the place without the book he wanted, he apparated to the Quidditch pitch for a few laps. Another few days later did he finally come to his senses; love did exist, and apparently, he was in it.

He, Devin, was actually in love. With - of all people - Cassana Rose. Only, she wasn't a 'Rose' any more; she was Mrs. Brennham. She was his wife.

And now, 365 days after they got married, Devin was ready to admit to her that he loved her. Except.. except he didn't know quite how to.

His strength was planning, and yet Devin found himself blank for ideas. Still, it was about time (they had been, after all, married for a whole year), and so, a few days before the big anniversary, arrangements were made. On the day itself, Devin left the house early in the morning, before Cassana herself was up, leaving behind a few small surprises. From the side of her bed was a path marked out by roses: white, yellow, and pink. The stems had been carefully de-thorned so that it wouldn't hurt her, and they were laid neatly, methodically, so that on either side of the path was an identical colour rose. In the middle of the path was a carpet of red petals, also roses, that were charmed so as not to wither or get blown away,

They led to the kitchen, where on the dining table, lay a hot breakfast of her favourite foods. A simple note sat beside it.

    Good morning, Ana.
Sorry I couldn't be there. I had things to do. Have a good day, I'll see you later for lunch.
    - Devin.

While muggle things were not what he liked, he was now relying on just that - technology. Hidden cameras lay around the room, and he himself was somewhere else, watching the screens with interest, waiting to implement the next phase of his plan.

No reply, and Cassie frowned. Her eyes weren't even completely open yet, but the non-responsive answer awoke her enough that she opened her eyes and winced at the sunlight streaming in. She groaned a little before she closed her eyes again and begun to rub the sleep from them.

"Devin if you scare me I'll burn the bed, I promise," Cassie shouted into the house, then paused at the echo of her own voice returning to her. She pouted and sighed before running a hand through tangled, sleep knotty hair. She frowned and made a sound of disgruntled frustration before she kicked her feet over the side of her bed. Only for bare feet to land in softness. Her eyes shot open when she saw the pretty roses.

What the-, Cassie's brows furrowed in disbelief. She wanted to scream at him but then realized she'd be talking to herself. Alright, well this was new, she thought as she bent down to touch one gently. It was soft, and her favorite type. Roses weren't cheap. Except she knew he had money. She was touched because this was - it wasn't - it was.

    It wasn't something he did.

There was a logical reason he was doing this. There had to be, so she pulled a rose to her face and inhaled the sweet, innocent scent of the yellow flower and pulled her knees up to her chest to stare at the floor. Cassie wracked her brain for ideas, for answers; roses were known for their connotations. In complete honesty, she would have never known any of the definitions of rose colors if she wasn't a Potioneer. The best love potions, the most potent ones always called for the flower of romance or of love; the rose. Each color was significant. They always had a deeper meaning. The ones on the outside were white, pink, and yellow. White meant marriage, yellow meant joy, and pink meant ... love? Pink was love in the way that was childish. not immature. Of all the different types of love pink represented the type of love friends had for each other.

    Then there was the red.

It was literally a carpet of red roses. Did he mean to signify there was an award waiting for her at the end? Or did he mean to use the other connotation of roses: love? It was a love as in love like a romance movie kind.

Sighing she put the rose on her bed stand before deciding to follow the path of roses in her big sweatshirt (Merlin's Academy made the warmest!) and boyshorts. As her feet stepped on the roses, the softness of them like rubbing her face on cashmere, it made her feel adored. She smiled the entire walk down to the kitchen, a bounce in her step. As she got closer however, her heart did a dance in her chest as she inhaled a sweet, familiar aroma. When Cassie got to the kitchen, she nearly fainted of joy.

Chocolate waffles (three to be exact) with a side of half butter and no syrup (a quirk of hers she realized just months ago that it was too sweet and took away from the sweet flavor of chocolate), English Breakfast tea with enough cream and sugar it was basically warm water with cream and sugar, a cup full of strawberries and blueberries sprinkled with sugar, two sausages, and a cup of water (to wash it all down when she was done) .

All done to a tee, a perfect meal, the perfect completion of her favorite breakfast foods.

She gasped before her fingers reached the note and she turned it over to read the words.

Ana, she thought, a tight fist around her heart stopping for a moment, it was a name that Devin and only Devin called her.

"What're you up to, Dev?" Cassie mused aloud with a smile on her face as she folded the note and begun to dig into her feast. Although she was happy to have her favorite food, she wanted Devin here, if not just to hear what he had to say about why she ate so damn much in the morning then to just to see his rather gorgeous face half-awake reading the paper and the Quidditch column. He'd always been attractive (hello he was a brilliant Quidditch player) but now he was so much more than that. Life was unfair like that; making her love her attractive husband who could thought of her as a sweet wife turned friend.

At the threat, Devin couldn't help but chuckle. Always so dramatic, but it was what he - dare he even say it? - liked about her. She was always so melodramatic, making mountains out of molehills, while he was the opposite, and downplayed almost everything thrown his way. Maybe that was why they faught so often, and argued so much - but maybe it was also why he admired her. She was so different than him, offering him so many different perspectives on the exact same thing.

Watching her as she walked, Devin mentally smirked as he saw her smile. By now he could most definitely tell the difference between her types of smiles - from the tolerating one to the genuine one. This was a real one, the type that she couldn't hide even if she tried, and made her eyes light up in the most beautiful way. There was no denying it, not any longer, because Devin Brennham had finally come to admit to truth, and it was almost freeing for him. And Cassana's smile was most definitely something he adored.

You're always so dramatic, he thought at the gasp, but for once it wasn't in a snarky tone. It was paired with a small smile, but nobody was there to see it, and that was the way he liked it: as a secret for he alone to know. Or at least, for the time being. If he had been just a tad bit more talkative than he was, he would have said he wanted to tell the world. But that was not Devin, and he didn't want to do that. All he wanted was Cassana.

"You'll see, my dearest Ana," he muttered to the question, fully aware that she could ot hear him. He was very good at keeping secrets and following plans, and that was why it had taken him what felt like forever to prepare this. Nothing was to go wrong.

When he saw that she had finished eating, he gave his wand a flick, opening the cage in a nearby room; his owl flew out, straight towards her, dropping a Howler onto her lap. Moments later, he heard his own voice coming through.

"Ana, I have a favour to ask. I am tied up at the moment, and there are a few chores I need done. Could you please run down to the jewellery shop in Muggle London we passed that day and pick up an order for me, in my name? Thank you. I will see you for lunch... Devin."

Smiling to himself, he sat down and picked up a book, settling down for a read. He had called in another favour, and a friend was waiting near the shop to follow his wife inside and film her reaction. Devin definitely wanted to see this, because when she did ask for the order, she would be told that it was for her. It had taken him the better part of two hours to decide on the necklace, and he was uncharacteristically nervous to see what she thought.

Cassana had felt deliriously happy with how full she was, humming to herself in happiness at a beautiful breakfast. Although she would have been ecstatic, humming with pure energy to have Devin there with her, she could content herself to a little alone time. Of course, she thought with a bit of a frown, she did hate the sound of loneliness. What to do with the rest of her day? She could wait around, like a neurotic 50's house wife waiting ever so patiently and compliantly for her husband to return home, OR owl Tess or Brooke or Parker to see if any of them wanted to go out and about.

Within moments those considerations were crumpled and tossed out the window as Devin's owl appeared, she jumped in surprise, startled by it's swiftness. She was ready to reach out to it pet it before it flew off. She pouted at the animal. Yule was never that mean, she thought haughtily. The confusion on her face could only be interpreted as what the hell is this? It was then that the Howler echoed Devin's voice. Creepy as it might sound (maybe it was romantic to others, her not so much) but Devin's voice held a certain weight in her mind and heart. Because he spoke so rarely, and when he does sweet Morgana above did the man deserve the Sass Queen (yes Queen not King) award, she cherished every word. Of course, his lack of speaking was in the beginning of their meeting (good gosh was it hard to describe how they came to be and what exactly they were).

Now they spoke regularly and they laughed even more often and she absolutely loved it. She loved talking to hear him, even if it meant talking about Quidditch. She knew relatively nothing about Quidditch before marrying him. Then she started reading fervently about the subject and asking questions about it, if just to see the way his jade eyes jumped up to a brighter hue of emerald; his eyes that shone with the passion of his love for the sport. She really, really liked watching him talk about Quidditch.

If only she had the stomach for the possibility of plunging to her death. Oh wait, there's no need to stomach that if she's got a head full of reason on her shoulders, so I don't need to feel guilty. She changed quickly into a skirt and peter pan collar top, a little excited by this errand run that she was to go on; she loved adventures but school and life got in the way. Whatever Devin was doing, she had to trust him enough that it would turn out for the best.

When Cassie got there, the jeweler greeted her with a smile and a wink which made her grin a little uneasily, but then she saw it. And she gasped and bit her lower lip. She looked up at the jeweler.

"This is unreal," she told him as she ran her fingers over it, "not in a bad way, I'm completely shocked but in a good way. It's not one of those bad kinds where you feel like trapped or nervous but I'm so ecstastic right now I'd jump for joy if I wasn't in heels and this is just beautiful. Has anyone done this for you? Oh, wait you - no I don't think anyone's bought you a pearl necklace but I - I love this." The last words came out breathlessly from her long blabber and the jeweler smiled knowingly. She was smiling as she asked him to put it on her, disregarding the fact that it clashed with her outfit, smiling

PostSubject: Re: Second Times the Charm (Devana)    Second Times the Charm (Devana) EmptyFri Mar 06, 2015 2:35 am

Chuckling to himself as he watched her jump, he couldn't help but roll his eyes just a little. Fondly, but it was still a roll of the eyes. He didn't watch her change - that was creepy, and not something he would even consider doing, especially since she didn't know he was watching - but sent an owl out to a friend instead. When she came out into the living room, he felt his heart do a little flip.

It made so much sense now that he thought about it; how foolish he had been to think that these sensations were due to an illness! Of course, in a way, love was a sickness because the definition of an 'illness' was, among other things, something that prevents the body and or mind from working normally. And being in love with Cassana definitely stopped him from functioning as he did previously.

Like how, around her, his heart seemed to skip beats. And how time seemed to both speed up and slow down when he was watching her. And then there was that whole thing about wanting to make her happy, even if that meant doing something he didn't like. That was most definitely not something Devin Brennham would have ever thought he would do. It was just not normal, and yet it was becoming something he did often.

Maybe love was an illness, but if it was, he never, ever wanted a cure.

By the time he had finished analysing the whole thing, Ana had already arrived at the jewellery shop, and he watched his friend enter behind her. Nervous was something that he hardly felt, but it was all he could feel as he waited to see her reaction. He really hoped she would like it, but at the same time, he wasn't confident. But all that vanished the moment he heard her speak. Chuckling once more, Devin couldn't help but smirk at her words. It was a very.. very Cassana thing to say.

"I'm glad," he murmured to himself, waiting for her to be done with that before his friend would step forward.

And what his friend would offer was going to be something he was quite sure Cassana would enjoy. He had told his friend exactly what to say, and even he had memorized it, so when his friend spoke, Devin narrated it in his own mind: You must be Cassana. I'm Devin's friend, and he has asked me to help take you shopping. He has lunch plans with you and expects you to be wearing something formal, but nothing you already have. I have a Muggle debit card from him if you wish to browse that section of clothes.

His friend had put it in a slightly more long winded way, but Devin didn't mind - as long as his Ana was happy. That would take a few hours at most, and he hoped all the walking would make her hungry. After all that was done, his friend would leave Cassana back at the apartment, where Devin would meet up with her. He couldn't wait.

Second Times the Charm (Devana) Empty
PostSubject: Re: Second Times the Charm (Devana)    Second Times the Charm (Devana) EmptyTue Mar 10, 2015 6:28 am

Cassie was purely in awe of the necklace because one it was gorgeous and two it was from Devin which made it all the more special to her. She was feeling a bit love drunk too, to be quite frank. Every girl liked to be given gifts, no matter how humble they were about it. In the back of her mind, Cassana knew that even if Devin were dirt poor she'd still love him the same. Hopefully however, in that world they would have met under different circumstances.

She couldn't say she liked him entirely in the beginning of their acquaintanceship. Which was hard for her to admit because she liked frogs more than she liked him, he came off as rude, pretentious, and too judgmental for her tastes. However, as time went on and through the rough-ish road it took to get to this point she discovered that he wasn't pretentious just busy and he wasn't judgmental, okay well it wasn't as bad as she originally thought, but everyone was entitled to their opinions. Cassie didn't know a relationship could even have learning in it, but it did.

She knew now to be so quick to base her own judgments on people, that sometimes silence was the best part of the day, and that the best kind of love was the kind that pushed you to be a better person. She wasn't changed, she was matured. She still carried the same amount of energy, the same optimism, but she could channel now. She sort of had to, she had to balance pacifying her parents, living on again off again with her best friend, holding her other friendships, her school, and him. However, she was doing great so far. She was excited and happy to do all she was doing.

Then Devin's friend came in, she blinked in surprise and just opened her mouth, coming out of her lovesick daze and immediately jumping into whatever the friend said. Her eyes lit up and she grinned as she nodded excitedly, semi-speechless about what to say.

"Hey," she asked the guy as they walked, "do you think Devin knows that I'd still care for him the same way without all this stuff? I mean I love it, trust me I do, and I appreciate the way he's showing his affection and I love that he's doing this because it's so sweet of him. But honestly, I don't care for this as much because he's a great person and he could be piss poor and I'd lov-love to be married to him still."

However, he said nothing only gave her a slightly apologetic smile before directing her towards the place. Once there she sighed as she put herself into shopping mode. For some girls it meant going through thousands of clothes and looking at each cute one and giggling or sighing before putting into the 'wish-list' pile. For her it meant, giggling and sighing as she penned through each of the racks, looking for a dress that was long enough for her petite size that it would cover her legs, but also small enough that she wouldn't trip over it. After two hours and nothing, she sighed feeling a bit dejected.

As she walked around the dress store, she sighed as she looked over to the clerk counter and saw the lady fumble before something fell out of her hands and she caught it. Thank you good eye-sight because immediately she saw that the fumble had been her reaching for her wand. Her eyes darted to Devin's friend and she looked at him curiously. Then at the woman. He nodded over to her as if telling her go ahead.

After confronting the witch and discovering that she had a wixen and wizards only section in the back, as she ushered the Brennham woman towards that part of the store, Cassie felt her heart race in excitement. This day was turning out to be quite the adventure, she thought as she followed the woman who opened up a cabinet and took her wand out before the cabinet became doors, walking rhough it there wasa  large change in it.

Every dress was floor length, some had moving images on them (specifically one with birds on it flying upwards and swirling around her legs) but then she saw it. The color and design stuck to her minds, sort of reminding her of one of her favorite musicals, Into the Woods, with the way the design winded up her legs. She smiled thoughtfully before telling the lady that was the dress. The woman nodded before taking the dress and handing it to her with a smile.

Her grin practically ate her face as she returned to Devin's friend, the expensive but beautiful dress in arms.

PostSubject: Re: Second Times the Charm (Devana)    Second Times the Charm (Devana) EmptyThu Mar 12, 2015 11:28 pm

It had been a very slow few hours for Devin, who was normally a patient man. However, when it came to what he had planned for the day, and what he knew would happen after she bought her dress and came home, he simply could not wait. So, instead of sitting around and doing whatever it was he normally did when waiting (read a good book or study) he instead apparated to a nearby field and flew. Even then, he was not distracted, and flying did nothing to ease the nerves and the impatient gnaw in his insides, but at least it was something to do.

Finally - after what seemed like a year - he could wait no longer, and apparated back home, where he took a shower. It wasn't part of the plan, but, his Ana still not done with the shopping, he went out and bought her a bouquet of roses in her favourite colour. Apparently, the longer he waited, the more he wanted to please the witch, and that meant going out and buying more things that he thought she'd like. Splurging on things he would have never thought to consider buying before, because Cassana deserved nothing but the best.

It wasn't for a little while more of pacing that he got the confirmation that Ana had picked a dress, and he grinned as he waited for her to arrive home. Soon, he heard the keys turning in to door, and smiled as she walked in. "Had fun, Ana dear?" he asked, holding out the roses towards her. "You should go get changed; we have a lunch reservation in ten minutes."

While his wife did whatever she had to do, he, too, got changed. Wearing a simple suit, tie, and trousers, he was ready within minutes. He was always thankful that men, unlike women, only had one formal outfit - and, unlike dresses, the only thing that really changed was the colour. A noise made him turn, and Devin almost died right there and then as he saw his wife coming out of her room. The dress she was in was... Well, there was no way to describe how he felt in that moment. You're worth it all, he tried to tell her, unable to form the words. Instead, he smiled, slowly, then said, "You look amazing."

"I have made reservations at Copita. The portions are small, but the menu large and food almost as wonderful as you look," he told her, offering her his arm. "Shall we?"

PostSubject: Re: Second Times the Charm (Devana)    Second Times the Charm (Devana) EmptyFri Mar 13, 2015 12:18 pm

The guy was kind enough to carry the dress, but offered literally no conversation or clues. Before the apparation home she tried to peace the clues together. Then gave up because she was too ecstatic to do so. She’d lived a day of glorious luxury and loved each moment of it. It all seemed perfectly planned out and each detail she appreciated, the little things that happened she loved. She couldn’t wait to get home to see Devin and tell him about how much she’d enjoyed the day so far. Once she was outside the house, she could barely hold back her excitement. Taking the dress back and slinging it over one shoulder, she smiled brightly at him.

“I had the most fun ever,” Cassie exclaimed as she grasped at the roses and paused before following what he asked, going on the very tips of her toes she pressed her lips to his cheek, “I’ll tell you about how much fun I had during lunch, but thank you.” She murmured gratefully staring up at him before clambering up the stairs. Picking an ensemble that she felt was perfect to the occasion. After slipping into each of the clothing with excitement and applying little to no makeup. Her bedroom that she loved didn’t compare to Devin’s. She didn’t want to brag even if she felt gorgeous; she just meant to see if he too was ready to go.

“Jeez Devin, like I compare to you,” she murmured, cheeks flushed past her blush as she bit her lower lip because good Gods above, why was he so attractive? It was almost hurting her because of how well the suit fit him, how well it looked on his body. It upset her deeply because he was extremely attractive and she felt like a potato. Except that wasn’t a new feeling she had been having. Unfortunately.

“I’m glad I look as wonderful as food, there’s no greater compliment,” she replied grinning brightly, “but you’re like the pizza of food, which is almost the best, but I’ll keep an open mind for Copita.”  She took his arm and squeezed it, inwardly marveling at the muscle behind it and being a bit pissed he was more fit than her. As they apparated there and were seated immediately (how she loved hearing them call out the shared title, the Brennhams). Settling herself into the chair she smiled softly at him as she lifted the drink menu.

“What sort of drink do you want?” She asked before dropping the menu, making a table of her arms by placing her elbows on the table and putting her chin atop the bridge her hands created. “I’m leaning towards a Cigales & Toro, I’m sort of fascinated by the young version with something fruity with the taste of cherry and vanilla.” She narrowed her eyes at him after a moment, curiosity in the depths of her eye.

“And how was your day? What’d you do? What sort of events did you get up to? Hmm? Who helped you plan this ingenious thing, also the dessert menu looks delicious.” She asked in rapid fire succession as she fiddled with her hands.

Second Times the Charm (Devana) Empty
PostSubject: Re: Second Times the Charm (Devana)    Second Times the Charm (Devana) EmptyThu Mar 26, 2015 6:51 am

"I'm glad," he said simply, feeling his stomach flip as she kissed him. If only she knew what she did to him.. But of course not. How could she, when he always insisted he didn't believe in love? He was sure she didn't feel the same. After all, he had broken her and Daniel up, and she had claimed to love him.

There was no point commenting on what she had said. Truth be told, he didn't even know what she meant by it, but apparently it was a compliment, seeing as she blushed. That was another thing he didn't understand – not the fact that she blushed, but at the reasonings she was blushing. He just could not find one.

She was... comparing him to pizza? In Cassana terms, that was as probably as good a compliment as he could get, and so he dismissed the fact that she had literally just said he was like pizza and murmured a soft word of thanks. They apparated there without a problem and were seated, having arrived just at the precise time that Devin made his booking for. That in itself was satisfactory, but as he watched his wife from across the table, he couldn't help but smile. He had already chosen what he wanted to eat and drink so that he could focus on her during the meal, and so when the question came his way, he didn't need to think. "A glass of Losada Crianza Mencia," he said, not bothering to elaborate.

The questions came fast and hard, as they usually did with Cassie, and he listened to them all before going through them. "It was normal. Not much. Again, not that much." He paused a little, gave a sly smile and continued, "Brooke, a little. I came up with it and ran it by her, and yes, it does."

Admits conversation - or Cassana talking and him listening - they ordered and ate. it wasn't till an hour later that they were finished, and the waiter had cleared the last of their empty plates.

Meal done and stomachs full, Devin simply could not wait any longer. The table was clear and the only thing remaining on it was the tablecloth. Reaching over, he took her hands in his and waited to catch her eyes before saying, "My dearest Ana, I am but a man of few words. You of all people should know that I do not talk unless absolutely necessary; I do not waste words. My sentences are straightforward and precise, and I convey exactly what I need to and nothing more."

He paused to let her take that in before continuing. "But you... There will never be enough words in the world to describe what you are to me, and there can never be enough sentences to say how beautiful you truly are."

Taking a deep breath, he didn't give the nerves time to settle as he went on, "My dearest Ana, this past year of marriage has been challenging. I do not doubt that. But somehow, along the way, I have grown to know you - know your heart. I have never believed in love, but I found myself changing. I do not know what it is about you that has captured me, but I am completely and utterly held captive by you, Ana, and I find myself having to admit fault. You see, my dearest Ana, I was wrong..." Devin hesitated, wondering if he was making a mistake. He had never been so uncertain in his life, but he knew this had to be done, had to be said. "..there is such thing as love, and I am in it."

Another brief moment passed. "There is no other way to phrase it, or to explain how I feel; I love you."

His heart was pounding, but he was almost done.

"My Ana, you alone have my heart, and for you alone does it beat. I do not expect us to ever have a common life, nor do I think that things will be easy for us, but know that, through everything we face, I love you, and I will always be there for you."

It was time. Everything, the entire day, had led to this. Slowly, very slowly, he said, "We are already married, but if we weren't, I would go down on one knee." He smiled, shaking his head just a little before adding, "No, you deserve it anyway." Then, without taking his eyes off of hers, he pushed back his chair noiselessly and lowered himself down. Opening the box he had slid out from his pocket, he smiled at the witch. "Cassana Brennham, will you marry me – again?"

Second Times the Charm (Devana) Empty
PostSubject: Re: Second Times the Charm (Devana)    Second Times the Charm (Devana) EmptySun Apr 05, 2015 4:01 pm

As was the typical way of Cassie, her brain drifted into dreamland. How was it possible that her parents were able to know that she would fall in love with Devin? Well, you know what, they probably didn't know. However, they had done her right in the end. She wanted to still be saddened by the fact that they'd betrayed her and her sister, but she couldn't find it in her. She still thought of Gabriella, her sweet sister who loved her dearly, and missed her in her heart. Although she wasn't a single step closer to finding her sister, she had hopes that she one day would.

She smoothed her fingers over her dress slowly to bring her head out of the clouds. She noted in her brain that she needed to eventually confront Brooke about it. Chattering away throughout their dinner about the exact details of her day and how nice his friend was with Devin listening intently and speaking when he did as per usual.

"Augh," she groaned gleefully and leaned back in her chair, running her fingers over her full but still flat stomach (bless the morning runs and work outs), "that was pure perfection, this has been terrific," she leaned forward again to reach out and put her hand over his and briefly entertwine their fingers and bring them to her lips to kiss them. She released his fingers then to fix a her feet in her heel as she tended to slip her feet and in and out of shoes when she sat in a place for more than thirty minutes.

With the table cloth cleared, she wondered why they were still sitting there. When his hands reached for hers she smiled warmly at him, and clasped onto his hands with intent to never let go (metaphorically of course). Pre-Devin she never considered guaging what she was going to say but since marriage her words held more weight, held more importance in fights and conversations, she was watching what she said. She wanted to say that of course she knew he never spoke unless he needed to, which was contray to her in most situations, but instead she sealed her lips and nodded hurriedly, understandingly.

"But you... There will never be enough words in the world to describe what you are to me, and there can never be enough sentences to say how beautiful you truly are."

[i]I'm his wife, and I have been for a year. I'm also his part-time roommate, and that's about it. Beautiful? The only thing I am is a klutz, a shmuck, a clumsy mess,
she thought, but obviously there was more to it. Her smile was smaller, but not an inch less genuine as she squeezed his fingers in encouragement and leaned even forward, the table digging straight into her torso.

At his next words, she felt very different than she ever felt in her life.

It was as if the world closed in on one single, perfect moment. The sounds of the restaurant bustling and thriving around her died in her ears, her vision narrowed from the beautiful atmosphere and surroundings to just him. Her fingers couldn't feel the tablecloth, but instead the soft yet calloused feel of his digits in hers. Her ears were wide and receptive to listening and honing in on every syllable that left his perfectly shaped, perfectly pink, perfectly perfect and perfectly Devin lips.

    "I love you."

Every worry, every fear, every awful feeling that had ever bubbled about herself just flew right out the window because in that single infalliable moment of perfection, Cassana felt incapable of hatred. Her stomach bubbled with butterflies flying around racuously, her heart pounded against her ribcage as if it was running away from her and to him. What a lie, her heart was already with him, it had nowhere else to run.

She was ready to open her mouth to speak to tell him that she loved him just as much, maybe if not more. She wanted to speak, but her tongue felt stuck, felt as if it was heavy as lead. She felt inept, inadequet, unworthy as if her words would mean nothing as opposed to his, so she held her tongue and merely nodded, small tiny tears of joy clouding her vision partly. When Devin dropped to one knee, she clenched her fingers into  the folds of her dress and let her jaw fall open.

"How could I say no," she murmured, her voice a bit hoarse, she cleared her throat and nodded gleefully, "of course." Cassie said louder as she moved her hands down to his cheeks to lift him up further as she tilted her head to press her lips to his. "I love you more than the moon loves the sun and more than any human could love another, thank you for being you."
