When Parker first arrived to the Academy’s grounds, he was absolutely floored. He never imagined that a more beautiful and grandeur castle than Hogwarts existed, but there he stood for several silent moments in complete and total awe of what was before him. One would not have been able to guess that it was an institution so much younger than Hogwarts - it’s sheer presence declaring a sort of historical significance that seemed unreal, like something even more fantastic than in fairy tales. There were no words to properly describe the feeling swelling up in Parker’s chest. If he didn't have all his belongings waiting to be brought up to the dorms, he could have easily stood there all day admiring what he saw.

Getting closer to the castle as he made his way towards where he was told the dorm towers would be, he was able to get a better look at all the magnificent detail hidden in its exterior design. This was so far beyond anything he ever expected and he couldn't even imagine what the interiors might be like. An awe-struck smile plastered itself on his face as he slowly strolled along with his luggage magically dragging behind him.

As much as Parker wanted to just lay down on his wonderful new bed, meet his roommate, and take everything in; he wanted even more to visit and walk around Avalon. Back at Hogwarts , trips to Hogsmeade were a luxury for him. He didn't even have permission to go until his 6th year when he started living with his grandmother. And even then, visits were far and few between. It wasn't like he had money to buy things with, and it only ever made him feel bad to have his friends offer to buy things for him.

It didn't take long to get to Avalon, and just as he expected, it too had a spectacular atmosphere that was so much different from Hogsmeade. He hoped that the tea shop would be open that day, wanting to have a chance to check out where he would be working soon. Hands in his pockets and eyes trying to take in every detail, Parker was off in his own little world as he slowly strolled down the street taking in a deep breath of the fresh country air he missed so much.

After having moved in, Ariel had been walking a lot around in the academy, and she'd walked in the forest, finding the shack and just generally walked around trying to get a big picture of the place. But she had yet to go to Avalon, the nearby village. She loved how thorough everything was. Like, Merlin's academy. And the village being called Avalon. She was pretty amused by that. She was torn in two when it came to that era. She both loved it and disliked it, probably due to her own lineage. She loved the tales of King Arthur and Merlin, but she disliked the parts about Morgan le Fey. After all, this was the reason for her home being the way it was.

She loved her home, but it had a haunted feeling about it. The cellars weren't particularly nice, but there wasn't much to do about them really. She sighed and looked around as her feet carried her on her way to the village. She was rather happy with her situation. The academy was beautiful, the surrounding environment was peaceful and the village looked great. And her roommate seemed pretty darned nice. So all in all, everything was wonderful.

Ariel reached the village quicker than she'd expected and looked around. Everything was so nice! She wondered what many shops were a possible place. Even though Ariel was a pretty serious person, who generally didn't trust people and were the complete opposite of naive, she had one weakness; joke shops. During her years at Hogwarts, she had pranked as many people as she could, younger or older, Ravenclaw or not, it didn't matter. She loved the reactions she would get, and detention was always worth it. The few times she was caught. She grinned to herself.

The academy would probably not be the perfect place to go all out and prank people, but that did not mean she couldn't play out a small joke here and there. She would have to go back to her roots, though. She was pretty lost in thought, and just turned a corner as a guy got awfully close to her. Her arms shot straight out, grabbing the guy by his shoulders and doing a spin to avoid too harsh a collision. She looked up at him and felt her face flush slightly. She also saw her hair taking on a pinkish shine before going back to normal. He might not notice that.

"Sorry," she said sheepishly and took a step back and frowned. He seemed familiar. Her mind brought her back to Hogwarts in her sixth year when she pranked a group of fifth year Slytherins. If she wasn't completely wrong, he was one of them. That had been one of the pranks she'd been caught doing, so her victims had known who she was. "I know you," she said innocently, pretending as if she couldn't remember from where, "Do you attend the academy?" Oh yes, best question ever! Throwing him off into another direction of thought. The possibility that he did do that was big though. And that would be interesting.

Parker figured he shouldn't stay around in the village for too long since he still had a lot to do in the way of unpacking and preparing for the term to actually start (not to mention meeting his roommate), but he definitely wanted to get a thorough first look around before deciding to head back that way. Pacing along the road, he found himself debating whether or not to peek around in a few of the stores. Considering how he'd be strapped for money for a while until he began working at the tea shop, he eventually decided against it. Window browsing would be enough this time around; he would have plenty of opportunities in the future.

That thought caught Parker a little off guard. Not in a negative way, but he considered how odd it was that he never really thought that way when he was attending Hogwarts. He momentarily worried that his new-found optimism wouldn't last for very long only to be followed by another dark period, but for the moment he figured he needed to take it for what is was and deal with the rest as it came. Like he always did. He'd made it through the horror that was fifth year. He could handle whatever small things came his way now no problem. He just needed to keep things in perspective. His grandmother had told him he could write at any time if needed, same with several of his friends.

Parker sighed as he turned around the corner, not paying close attention to his surroundings. Before he even realized what had happened he bumped into a woman and was spun around, her grabbing him by the shoulders presumably to steady herself from falling back. He noticed the change in her hair colour, but in trying to compose himself and apologizing a couple times for running into her, he forgot about it not even a moment later. She returned a sheepish apology as they stepped away from each other, and when she frowned at him Parker felt himself instinctively tense.

    "I know you."

His expression darkened. He knew her too. "Y...eah...." Parker knew it was in fifth year. Had to be, because he'd been with Darrien, Michella and the others at the time. At what point of the year that was, he couldn't exactly recall. She apparently didn't remember him at all though, which he wasn't surprised by. He wasn't exactly invisible at Hogwarts, but he wasn't memorable either, which he was thankful for. "I do." He said shortly, trying not to let on how uncomfortable he felt. "Er - I do go to the Academy, I mean... I'm guessing you do too?"

Ariel noticed the change in his expression as she told him that she knew him. She couldn't quite place it though, if it was negative or positive, but she had a feeling that he did recognize her from Hogwarts. She didn't want to say that out loud though, because saying it would make it real, or even make her seem shallow if he didn't recognize her and she was just thinking he did. That would be stupid.

Ariel then blinked. What was really stupid was how much she cared about what others thought of her. Ariel was a kind person, and wasn't prone to being crude or vicious. Sure, she had her moments, but that was due to her agressive nature as half a veela. However, she was very open-minded and always listened to people. So why should she worry about what people said about her, when she was a good person? But she still couldn't find it in her to tell him about the prank.

"Oh, wow, that's great! And yes, I am," she said with a genuine smile. She really did love the academy. Sure, studying wasn't her favorite pasttime, but she certainly didn't hate it. Especially when it was potions, potions, potions. She absolutely loved potions. And studying things that one actually enjoys is enjoyable! Obviously... "What do you major in?" she asked curiously, "And are you a first year?"

Oh, God, Parker thought to himself. Why did it always seem like he made things so much more awkward than they needed to be... or was it just him? It was so unrealistic to think he'd be able to avoid people from Hogwarts - so why couldn't he just accept that and stop acting so anxious? Getting all dark and broody wasn't going to help anything; in fact, it risked making the situation so much worse.

And this situation wasn't even that bad, she likely didn't even remember exactly where she knew him from. He might have even been remembering the wrong person; or if not - it had been, what, two years? People changed a lot in two years...

Reassured by his own thoughts, he felt himself return a small smile back. He admittedly had been a bit caught off guard at her asking more about himself, stumbling over his words slightly as he responded. "Oh - er - yeah, I'm a first year. Healer In-Training too. You?" he ended simply, albeit somewhat awkwardly not really knowing what else to reply back with.

It didn't take a rocket scientist to understand that this guy felt like he was put on the spot. He didn't seem to be the most talkative person around, but Ariel could be wrong. Maybe he was just a bit shy at first and got much more outgoing as time passed. Ariel hoped so, because he was one of the first people she'd met from the study, and it would be nice to do a study where she could have more than two people that she could randomly say hello to.

"Yeah, I'm a firstie too," she said with a kind smile. She really didn't want him to feel out of place, but at the same time, stopping in the middle of the street to have a long chat could be a bit awkward, even for her, so she wanted to quit while she was ahead. Not just yet, though, she still had more than enough questions to ask, but that might be awkward for him again. "You wanna be a healer, huh?" she asked, still smiling, "That's pretty brilliant, really."

"I'm a potioneering major, actually," she said softly, "And those two things actually have a lot in common. Though there might be some more spells involved when it comes to your classes," she added thoughfully. For a split second she didn't know what to say, but no more than that. "So, do you live on the school, or do you have an apartment?" she asked curiously, wondering how many people lived on and off campus.
