| Some days Cassie needed for herself, and so she took them for herself. An extrovert by nature pushed into a setting of recluse was not a healthy equation. So she dressed herself up, put on a pretty white dress. It was cinched at the waist and white in color and ended just at her knees she paired it with four inch brown heels. She styled her hair to let tendrils cup her face, curls that ended at her chin. She took along a little tan clutch that she put her phone, her wand, and her wallet in. Curious about where to go she looked at several interesting places on her laptop before deciding on an area in London rather famous to the magic community. She decided on a cute little pub in Diagon Alley. While she was in Diagon Alley she explored the place a bit, enjoying the sights and the places of books. When her stomach began to rumble she put a hand to it before walking towards her destination with intent.
Once inside she inhaled the sweet aromas of the place, food, she thought with a grin as she scanned the area. She was thankful there were no real waiters, but when she saw there was nary a table without multiple people she bit her lower lip nervously. Until under a dim light she saw one table with a single patron so, with no bias to who she could dine with she walked up to the table with a hesitance in her step.
"Hello, may I sit with you? It's rather crowded in here," she gestured to the room as she balanced one hand on the chair, a polite smile on her face. |

| Bored. That was what James had been for the past day, simply because he had finished his homework and there was nothing else to do. All his friends were busy with their own thing and he was left to amuse himself. Finally deciding to do something outside of the four walls of the castle, he apparated to Diagon Alley and made straight for the bar. Maybe, just maybe, he could find someone to spend the weekend with.
But a few drinks and a lot of failed conversation later, he gave up for the time being; it seemed that the crowd that came to bars on Saturday afternoons were not the kind that were easily convinced. Nevertheless, James still enjoyed crowd watching, and found pleasure in making up stories for the people in the nearby table.
Out of the corner of his eye, he caught movement towards him and turned, hand automatically moving to rest on the pocket in which his wand was kept. One could never tell if it were an acquaintance, or someone who was pissed that you flirted with their girlfriend. Or fiancée. Or wife. Noticing it was a witch who did not look threatening in the least, he relaxed and instead took a sip of his drink, pretending not to have realized she was approaching.
Only when he heard her voice did he turn to properly look at her, and hid a smirk. Why did he ever bother going after them when one so easily and willingly came to him? Taking a few moments to act as though he was thinking about it, he finally said, "Why of course you may. How can I say no to a female such as yourself?" |

| Cassie felt awkward, which was a rarity since she was normally comfortable in her own skin. She hadn't noticed it before, but as she approached she realized something quite vital in making new acquaintances; this guy was handsome. She bit back her flush and cleared her mind as she tried to not think about how her last relationship had been with the other Enforcer at Tituba's, a right jerk when he wanted to be but not too shabby on treating a girl right when he wanted to be either. She pushed the memory away.
For a second she glanced at the bar, would it hurt terribly to sit on a barstool for thirty minutes to eat a sandwich. You already opened your mouth, she thought grimly, it would be rude to leave. She held her clutch a little tighter and when his answer was positive she smiled a little before pulling out the chair and sitting in it, placing her clutch at the edge of the table so it was close to her she decided to not read into this guy's words too much. Except, she hadn't spoken to many male's with an accent in her attendance to Merlin's and a light blush tickled her neck as she realized how very sweet it sounded on the ears.
"My names Cassana, but you can call me Cassie, it's easier," she added, before tilting her head a little, clearing all thoughts of him she turned her curiosity onto the place instead, "have you been here before? Has the waitress come by perhaps?" |

| Watching the witch take her seat, James smirked just a little to himself. She was most definitely not from around here; she had a peculiar accent that James couldn't place. Not from the one sentence, in any rate. Still, a pretty witch was a pretty witch, no matter where from. Was that a blush? he wondered, blinking. Maybe I just imagined it.
As she introduced herself, he smiled properly at her. "It's a pleasure, Cassana," he replied. "I'm James. You may call me yours." He offered her a wink, and then forced a laugh, as though he had been joking around. It was always best to pretend you weren't flirting to test the waters. If she reacted negatively, it was just too bad. But if she played along, then things would get much more interesting. "I'm just kidding, ignore me."
The questions made a light bulb go off. American. That was what her accent was! Not bad. Not bad at all, he mused. "I have. I come here all the time. Don't you?" He paused. "They have, but.." Raising a hand, he gave a sharp whistle and caught the attention of a passing waiter, who rushed over. "And what would you be having, Cassana?" James continued, looking towards her with a smile. |

| Cassie fidgeted in her seat. She had been in a relationship before, but they were long and drawn out with meaning and true hurt after. Her parents had taught her relationships were best done with slowness and friendship the best way to be begin. Except, Cassie was no longer 15 or 17. She was 19, and in a completely different country. That warranted a good excuse to do as she pleased.
For a split second after the line left his mouth she was surprised, because it wasn't every day rather charming man flirts with you and cursed him mentally because Merlin be darned now her face was completely red from delight. Then he laughed and she was red for another reason. What a-a, what crap what's an insult to British people? Cassie felt a bit mocked, and she wanted to do something back, something to either surprise or insult him. She bit her lower lip in thought for just a split moment, before thank you rom-com Gods she got the idea. Cassie released her lip and smiled slowly before reaching for his drink and lifting it to her lips.
"Shame it was a joke, it would have been great." She purred, a pout on her lips. Cassie was sure she was doing good at trying to be alluring. Then she took a sip from his drink after a pause- then realizing it was a foreign drink felt an unpleasant burn down her throat. She knocked her bag off her table in her haste to put the drink back down and as she turned to grab it, hopefully out of his eyesight, she cringed at the sensation in her throat.
"Sorry about that," she murmured, flushed in a bit of shame, "I'm from the States, and this is kind of my first day out of my dorms." Cassie felt a little bit of regained collection pulling her from her embarrassment as she said this, still uncomfortable by her flirting failure, but decided she wasn't to be deterred in making a friend.
"I'll have whatever the soup of the day is and a water, please," with that she turned to James, she muttered a faint; "Thank you, James." |

| Watching the witch become flustered was pure amusement to James, and he leaned back just watching her. Hopefully she wasn't the kind to get all defensive, and for a moment there when she reached for his drink, he wondered if he would be leaving the pub covered in alcohol. But then she was taking a sip all flirty like and his eyes lit up. At least, they did, until she choked and proceeded to send her bag tumbling down.
Unable to help it, he let out a bark of laughter. "Merlin's beard, my dear," he said, grinning. "That was either the worst attempt at flirting I've ever seen, or the best attempt to make my day." Motioning to his drink, he couldn't help but smirk as he downed the remainder in one gulp. "Firewhiskey, with a Leaky Cauldron secret ingredient. Fantastic, don't you agree?" he teased.
Raising his eyebrow at the witch, he shook his head. "No, I didn't hear you say that. Rule one of flirting, my darling Cassana, is never admit you failed. You meant to do that," James said calmly, winking at her. It seemed she was someone he didn't mind getting to know, and already he quite liked the witch.
"Only soup? What a shame, they do a rather fantastic grill here..." he turned to the waiter. "I'll have another of these, and a grill platter. She'll have a butterbeer." To Cassana, he added, "Let's try to get you to appreciate the finer things of life, eh? Soup and water. Really, you need to get out more." This was said in a teasing tone, light and playful, so she would know he wasn't trying to be rude.
At the word of thanks, he brushed it off with a wave of a hand. "No worries. Like you said, it's your first day out of the dorms. As a local, it is my duty to show you around. Consider this your initiation." |

| Cassie let out a huff of embarrassment wanting to get angry because how dare he make fun of her? Except, instead of snapping she thought about how poor taste would it be for her to get angry over herself? She'd made plenty of mistakes before, she could deal. So she did what she did best and archived it- no that was a lie that's not what she did best.
She stuck out her tongue and blew a raspberry at him. She lifted her chin defiantly.
"I'm no dear, that's such a grandma nickname, and I definitely did not think it was all that fantastic of a drink," she pulled a face of disgust before giggling as a thought came to her adding, "Granny Jamie," she snorted in laughter as it rocked her body the ridiculousness of the nickname. After a moment she stopped, suddenly worried that she had offended him. "I'm kidding, that's not a very nice nickname." She grinned then. "Unless you like that kind of nickname." She winked, grinning jokingly.
"I'm sure I'll have plenty to learn from you, Professor -," she begun to tease before realizing she didn't know his last name she blinked in surprise, before ending it there, she scoffed. Her eyes lit up at the mention of food.
"Well thank you for ordering for me," she said sincerely, smiling kindly, "I didn't know where to begin with this food stuff- do you come here often then?" She paused realizing that was a line before pursing her lips. "That's not a line."
"I-I hope I didn't come off as rude with my granny comment, it was a joke and I'm not used to English costumes- not to say you guys don't have a sense of humor but I- I'm pretty sure I'm 90% humor and 10% Potioneer, I-I- you," she stammered before letting out an irritated breath with herself, "you're a good person so far, thank-thanks for helping me out." She said fiddling with her fingers under the table, biting her lower lip nervously. |
