Full name: Monya Sun Roy
Age: 31
D.O.B: (Day and month) February 2
Birthplace: England
Current location: Merlin’s Academy
Blood status: Half Blood
Occupation: Alchemy Professor at Merlin’s
Looks
Hair style: Bushy and best described as ‘ringlets’, her hair was usually parted just off center and pushed behind her shoulders, as to get it out of the way. On special days she would pull it into some sort of simple hairstyle, such as fishtail braids, though small bits of frizzy, unruly hair would escape and catch on her clothes. Monya’s hair was bright orange biologically, but the hue sometimes wavered between red and orange shades as she would use a color changing charm or potion for a temporary change (secretly debating whether or not to keep one of those alternate colors permanently – she never did). She had been at odds with her hair before, tormenting it with endless styling products in her previous attempts at taming it as a teenager.
Dress sense: Colorful, ornate, yet practical (as she works with dangerous materials). Usually wears ankle boots. Presumably decorates or creates her own clothing with her powers. She usually has at least a few pouches tucked away of various materials for crafting, whether that be of the magical or nonmagical kind. When she isn’t teaching she wears simpler outfits and carries a parasol, occasionally warranting a double-take.
Personality
Likes: candles, secondhand shops, teaching, the Sweetwater All-Stars, Paracelsus, mint, and apple cider
Dislikes: Nosy students, Bouncing Bulbs, nettle wine, and salty foods
Quirks: Her fashion sense and fondness for outdated Muggle objects.
Flaws: Can come across as intimidating or a ‘no-nonsense’ type of professor
Strengths: Precise, independent, and easily maintains a calm demeanor despite her surroundings
Weaknesses: Indecisive, prideful, finicky about organization, and often romanticizes the past
More Information
Most of her childhood was spent behind the counter of the shabby, dusty, yet cozy thrift store her mother owned on the corner of 2nd and Slope Street. Slope’s Stockpile had a brick wall exterior, a roof that Monya insisted was uneven, and tall paneled windows along the store front that bore tacky handmade signs (a majority of them crafted by Monya herself). Just inside the store is a small foyer area with a large old coffee table, littered with books yellowed with sun damage. This front room was most likely built to be a reception area or a waiting room for an office, as it had tiled floor as opposed to the dark green carpet that started abruptly after this area, likely where a wall once divided them. Just past this, floor to ceiling bookshelves of battered old books lined the entire right wall, and long aisles of strange patchwork coats, wooden trinkets, cigar boxes full of old buttons and ribbons, and collector’s figurines were where Monya fulfilled her need for adventure.
The never-ending flow of stuff that people traded, bought, or donated at Stockpile kept the inventory fresh for Monya; it was her main source of entertainment. Celina was able to keep an eye on her daughter easily because of the store and her daughter’s reluctance to make friends; it was the closest thing to a second source of supervision the kid was going to get. Most of the time, Monya brought back a haul of goods she wanted to play with or read and proceeded to sort through them over the course of a week or so, sitting on the floor by her mother’s feet and listening to the muffled coo of her mother’s voice to customers.
