Humphrey made his way to the astronomy tower, a slow dread to his steps. The moon was about a quarter of the way full, so only a waxing crescent tonight; however, after his last full moon he was wary of what the next would bring. There had been two full moons, and each one somebody new had discovered he was a werewolf. This was not something he was wanting to get out to his classmates, and if his secret continued to be discovered at this rate it would eventually spill out. So far he'd been extremely lucky with the two people who he'd encountered, and neither of them had broken his privacy by telling others that he was, in fact, a werewolf and not just a regular student at Merlin's. When he found himself in the cold October air, he breathed deeply and gazed up at the moon. It felt good to be able to look at it with no fear of turning, but it didn't stop him from wondering how long it would be until he became the monster again. Until he lost control of himself, risking the student's lives, even though the faculty had let him come in spite of his malady. To be honest, he was still shocked he'd been accepted into this higher institution of learning. Sighing, he slumped against the battlements and tried to relax.
Taking deep breaths, he tried to calm himself. His social anxiety had been getting worse than ever because two people had already discovered his little secret. Now he was loathe to interact with others, in case they would notice how he got pale and moody every month at the full moon, how when he came back after it he was always more awkward than his usual self was. No, things had not been going as smoothly as he'd hoped this year. After he calmed down a little, he looked up and saw a boy who appeared to be his age on the battlements. Immediately his body tensed up, and he gave him a wave that ended up being more of an awkward jerk of his hand. Idiot, you need to stay calm. This is not the time to act strangely, you can pass it off as simply wanting some fresh air. "I see somebody else wanted to enjoy the view and the lovely air up here."
