Violet was always the sort of child who would need to be forced by her parents to socialise with other children. Most would mistake it for shyness, but in reality, it was just that Violet was far too bitter, and too perceptive of other's stupidity, that she simply didn't want to make friends.

Of course, others would contribute this rather anti-social behaviour, once it became more prominent, to her home life. It was always dysfunctional, wrought with silly little fights about stupid and unnecessary things, like who left toast in the toaster. It didn't take much to figure out that her parents had grown to hate each other. But in the eyes of a six year old child, not even Violet was mature enough to see the reasoning behind all the commotion.

Eventually, they divorced. And Violet couldn't've been happier. Because once her father moved out, her mother showered her with attention and gifts, sort of due to guilt. Much to her satisfaction, her father tried desperately to win her affections. So, Violet became a smart, spoiled brat, who learned enough about human emotions to manipulate people. It became so much easier to do so once she grew into her looks.

Morally, she has always been ambiguous, and always chooses to suit her own needs over others.

She received her Hogwarts letter at the age of eleven. Her mother was wary, having never heard of the school before, and not believing that such a thing as magic could exist. But Violet had no trouble playing the guilt-card, and noting how her father wouldn't hesitate to send her there. She'd been curious, and eager to get away from her ever bickering parents. And once there, thrived on her own.
