When Humphrey had some free time he decided to explore the prestigious academy, if he wasn't hanging out by the lake that was. An exploration produced excellent results, as he'd come across both a music and an art classroom on the fifth floor he'd been unaware of. He wasn't sure why there wasn't a class listed for either, but he thought perhaps they may have had difficulty finding someone wanting to take time to teach college age students. After all, Humphrey was well aware that the young people around his age could be a handful. One nice thing about it, though, was that the classrooms were often empty. Which was why he had made his way to the music classroom today, it was an opportunity to practice without having to worry about people observing him.

The young wizard seated himself at the piano, and brought out the music he'd brought with him. It was a collection of songs by one of his favorite artists Alison Sudol, who went by the stage name A Fine Frenzy. Not only was her music wonderful, but she'd chosen the name A Fine Frenzy after a line in A Midsummer Night's Dream. Anybody who chose a stage name based on Shakespeare was clearly thinking about the right things, in his opinion, at least. This type of music had a unique feel to it, a whimsical sound almost; but, with a depth of emotion that really spoke to him. Flipping through the well-worn pages of the book, he came to a song called Ashes and Wine. Slowly his fingers started to dance across the keys, picking out the haunting tune while barely looking at the page of music. Most of these songs he knew by heart, he really just had the music there as a backup. For some reason recently he had been thinking of the songs more than usual, in particular the romantic ones. If he had been paying attention he might have realized it was because he was starting to develop a crush on one of his friends, a certain pureblood Malfoy; however, Humphrey had never really had a crush on anyone before so hadn't recognized it in the slightest.

These songs all had lyrics to them as well, and Humphrey did often sing while he played. Today though, he was focusing on just the sound of the piano and quickly lost himself in the music. While he played, the music started to stir up his emotions until they were a tempest within him. Teardrops started to fall down his face, a few making their way to land on the keys, while others landed on the floor or on the wood of the piano bench he was sitting on. Despite the teardrops, Humphrey kept playing, using the emotions to help him feel the music as he played the melodies. He played through others of her songs: Whisper, Almost Lover, The Minnow & the Trout, and ending with Swan Song. By the time he finished picking out the final notes of Swan Song he felt emotionally drained, but peaceful for some reason. All of those feelings he'd gotten out in his playing he hadn't really been aware of, and he smiled slightly to himself as he wiped his eyes with the cuff of his long-sleeved shirt. "Turning into a sentimental fellow here, it seems." he said to himself, chuckling a little.

Feeling as if a weight had been lifted off him, Humphrey started to play around on the piano once more. This time he began working on one of his own songs that he had started before, and he finally had a title to write on the top of the sheet music, 'Teardrop Melodies'. Changing around some of the notes, he gave it a more melancholy feel. Still, it wasn't quite right though, and he decided to change the key from the G it had been in to a minor key. As he played sometimes he would add in improvised tunes here and there, some he kept and wrote into the sheet music while others he discarded. Later he would start writing down lyrics to go with the song, he was certain. Muse was a funny thing, sometimes he started with a tune that popped into his head, other times he tried to base a tune off of some sentence or two that had popped into his head, or just an idea, really. Humphrey certainly felt the most comfortable he had since starting at Merlin's Academy though, as he enjoyed the empty music classroom. Now he was starting to finally fell at home, which was a new feeling for him. The young wizard was completely oblivious to the world around him, but he was enjoying it.

Aqua had been here in Merlin's Academy already for awhile and still did explore around the building a lot. She had discoverd thet music classroom, what wasn't used that much since she did heard that there wasn't any teacher for could do it for them. Aqua didn't mind it at all, she liked to sing and play guitar but she never have taken any classes before and she really doesn't want too. She likes to learn her own about how to play guitar and singing comes naturally for her.

Since she had some free time she walked to do that music classroom. She did even take her guitar with her. She had taken it with her when she moved to domitories here. She could play with other guitars too but she liked hers the best. Awhile walking towards that classroom she did hear the piano sound. She didn't find it strangers at all, she knew that she won't be only one who can play instrument and then want's to practise it in music classroom. She couldn't tell who was author and what song it was but it was nice. It also had good melody for her.

She opened the door to that room and saw there one boy, who she didn't know yet playing piano. "Hello," she said there awhile she walked into the room. She hoped that she didn't scare the boy now, she is sure that she startled him or so at least. "It was quite good melody, I like it," she said there then with a smile. She really did mean what she just said now.

Usually Humphrey's ears were quite alert to what was going on around him, and he often picked up on sounds that alerted him before he saw things. The young adult was so lost in his music though that his ears hadn't picked up the sound of the door opening, nor the footsteps of a girl entering the music classroom while he played. It was understandable since he was lost in the tune he was writing, though when he heard a voice it gave him a start. Fingers that had been picking out the delicate melody got mixed up, and clashing notes rang through the room before he stopped playing and turned to find who the sound was coming from. A blond girl who looked to be his age was standing there, smiling, and he simply stared.

"Hello,"

"It was quite good melody, I like it,"

When he heard the compliment a light blush rose in his cheeks, and he looked down at the floor. Taking a few deep breaths, he tried to compose himself before looking back up. His cheeks were still a little pink, but not as bad as before. "Thank you, it's nothing really. Only a song I'm working on, still needs more work until it's finished." Humphrey admitted to her. Standing up, he walked over to her and held out his hand. "Humphrey Williams, year one Dragon Trainer-In-Training." he introduced himself. As he held out his hand, he noticed that she had a guitar in one of hers. That was an instrument he'd always wanted to learn yet had never gotten around to it. "You play, I take it?" he asked, eyeing the beautiful instrument.

Aqia looked at that boy when she introduced himself too. She did offer to her empty hand then and she did shake it then. She smiled when he asked if she plays guitar. She had learned to play it herself. She and her sister didn't had much money from tutoring lessons. So it was cheaper to learn herself. The guitar was her 10th year birthday present from sister.

"I'm Auror in training," she said then her major basically too there, she didn't say it before. "Yes, I play. Learned myself," she said there with a smile. "If you want I can play something," she said there then. "Oh I have tried to make my own songs too but so far they all aren't finished yet. They are lacking something," she said with a smile. Girl was glad that she could talk here with someone about music.
