| A fall breeze captured the edges of her dress and flicked up the soft material. Usually, Alcy would've been groping to shove it down and appear quite ladylike, whilst also avoiding a display of her underwear for the whole world to see, but fall meant colder weather, which meant that all of her dresses had leggings beneath them. Absently, she grasped at the material fluttering about by her midriff and held it back in place where it belonged, the breeze refusing to die off. Though, she had not expected it to - who came out to a cliff-face by the ocean without the expectation to nearly be bowled over by the wind?
Bright, chestnut eyes examined the ocean waves below. Said wind was currently lifting the waves up, pulling them as high as they were able to reach before allowing them to crumble back in on themselves. It was exhilarating to watch nature at work, to hear the soft crashing of water below as it danced it's endlessly repetitive dance with only two moves - up, and then back down again. She'd been tempted to go swimming today, but a step outside had warned her off of such a foolish endeavor - it was a little too chilly for swimming in the ocean. She doubted that the magnificent waves below her would be anything other than icy to the touch.
The soft tweeting of her sparrow snapped Alcyone's attention away from the ocean, and she lifted a hand to allow the creature to flutter down and settle on her finger. "Bored, Flick?" She asked the creature, who made a soft cooing noise at her. She smiled and placed her hand on top of her head, only moving it away from her perfectly manicured hair when she felt the tiny creature nestle into her hair. She didn't like anyone touching her hair when she'd done it up, but Flick was always allowed to make it his home. She turned about and moved away from the cliffs towards the picnic area, where several families and random couples wandered about and sat around, laughing and chattering amongst themselves. She smiled. Watching people interact always warmed her. |

| After a day of shopping in Avalon Humphrey decided to make his way out to Laguna Beach. His shopping was shrunk and in his pockets so it wouldn't hinder him while he moved about. Once he got there, he looked over it, trying to decide where he wanted to go. Eventually he settled on heading towards the section with the cliffs, that would most likely provide the best view of things. Soon he was standing near the cliff edge, heights had never bothered him and he could smell the spray off the ocean below. Humphrey had always felt at home in the water, and if it wasn't so cold today he would probably be heading down to the beach to get in some swimming. Sitting down, he laid back on the grass and let himself relax.
All too soon he knew that he would be far too busy with school to enjoy days like this one. School was something he was looking forward to, but he would definitely miss being able to go out and enjoy the nice weather whenever he wanted. Eyeing some of the clouds, he picked out a shape that looked vaguely like a castle. "There's my castle on a cloud." he muttered to himself, smiling at the sight. Les Miserables was a wonderful musical he'd seen many times, and the lyric had just popped into his head at the sight of it. Yawning and stretching out, he made his way to his feet. Walking right up to the edge, he looked down on the ocean battering against the cliff face. Part of him was tempted to dive right in, but he knew it was sadly too chilly at the moment. Turning away with a sigh, he started to walk around and explore.
Noticing a picnic area off to the side Humphrey started heading towards it. There were a couple of families and couples there eating, and he even saw a girl off to the side watching them. Examining the people, he saw them all laughing and smiling, enjoying their time together. It made him smile softly to himself, it was always good to see people having fun with each other and getting along. Deciding to brave a conversation, he walked over to the girl who looked to be maybe a little older than him. "Beautiful day out, isn't it? How are you today?" he asked, doing his best to appear friendly and not like some random creep approaching a girl alone. |

| The brunette didn't often entertain the idea of herself settling down, finding true love, and having children of her own. But when she watched a family sit in a circle on a picnic blanket, with a bother who looked both exasperated and amused, and a father with a bright grin lighting up his features, she couldn't help but wonder if that would be nice. Being in a family, one that was free of pressure like her own had been. It wasn't as if she had disliked her home life - not at all, actually, it was Caelum who felt the full brunt of expectation and pressure. She was the second daughter, not the one supposed to carry on the family, and she was female - even if her parents would argue they were not sexist, their traditions were, and her father was a man of tradition.
Alcyone simply didn't have much expected of her from her parents - she'd achieved what they'd wanted, high grades and a spot in the prestigious academy she'd attended for a good few years now, and that had been their main desire for her in life. But she had still tasted that coldness in the air, the frivolity of her family's lifestyle, the distance between each member. She'd forced her love upon each sibling and they had grown up with her constantly adoring them, and in turn had come to love and form a strong bond with her, but her parents? It was difficult to get much from either of them, even if she knew that they loved both her and Caelum dearly. It simply wasn't the same as what she was seeing here, she could not recall such an event with her own parents. She'd gone on picnics when she was little, but had that been with their nanny? Yes, Greta, the poor old woman who had died when Alcyone reached adolescence.
She jumped a little in surprise when a voice interrupted her peaceful bubble, but quickly relaxed when she noticed him. He looked familiar - she'd seen him at Merlin's, she was sure of it, though they didn't study the same thing. She knew most of the people in her course, save for a few of the freshman's. "Yes, it is. I think all of these families are here to simply appreciate the last few days that summer can still warm for us," she smiled at him in a bright manner, her eyes roving over his appearance on instinct. No matter how hard she tried not to, Alcyone always found herself judging based on looks. His appearance was neat, tidy, with attractive arranged features and an aesthetically appealing shade of dirty blond to his slightly messy hair. "You look familiar. Do you go to Merlin's?" |

| "Yes, it is. I think all of these families are here to simply appreciate the last few days that summer can still warm for us,"
Humphrey couldn't help but wince a little when he saw the girl jump at hearing his voice, he really hadn't meant to startle her like that. Now that he looked at her from closer up, he had a feeling that he may have seen her once or twice at Merlin's. It was obvious that the girl put a fair amount of work into her appearance, and her hair was carefully managed in a lovely way. She was definitely not in his dragon-training course though. "That's why I ended up coming out. Hadn't planned on it, was doing some shopping in Avalon. But, the day was simply too nice to pass up and I decided to come out." he admitted, grinning. Seeing somebody his age out here was nice, to be honest he had expected to be maybe the only person out here. Instead there were quite a few people around, enjoying some of the last warm days of the year.
"You look familiar. Do you go to Merlin's?"
To be honest he was rather surprised that she recognized him, he was in his first year at Merlin's Academy. Definitely didn't think that anybody in the older years had taken notice of him. "I thought maybe I'd seen you before...Yeah, I'm in year one, Dragon-Training. What about you?" Humphrey asked her. As he was chatting with her Humphrey noticed a sparrow nestled into the girl's hair. Rather curious, but he imagined that the bird would probably make a wonderful pet. "That's a beautiful sparrow you have there." he commented. He wanted to get a pet, the problem was narrowing down the animals he wanted to get. When you loved pretty much all creatures it was tough to pick just one, but he knew that starting with one was the best way to go. |

| Alcyone could see a slight guilt in his eyes at her wincing, and she smiled at him to soften the blow of her actions. She hadn't meant to, but Alcyone was prone to falling off into her own world and not focusing on her surroundings - she was most certainly not suitable to be in the auror profession. Outside of classes, she scarcely paid attention to anything, and she doubted that such a thing would be helpful in a situation where she needed to constantly be focused on everything. It wasn't as if she didn't try to focus, but when her attention wasn't snagged by something important, then she could be very absent-minded, and would somehow find herself letting her thoughts go off on one tangent or another, losing herself in her own mind before she could halt the wanderings. "I like to watch the ocean from up here. It's peaceful," she said in response.
Warmth touched her eyes as she cast her gaze back towards that family. It occurred to her she hadn't eaten that day when she noticed the particularly appealing biscuit in the child's grasp, decorated with pink frosting and splashes of colour that she suspected were derived from sprinkles, or hundreds and thousands. When she stared at him harder, she realised that she recognised him from Hogwarts more than Merlin's. She had a keen memory for those who she'd attended her favourite place in the world with. "Wait! No, I haven't seen you at Merlin's - I remember you from Hogwarts. You were in Ravenclaw," she nodded her head, because she'd bumped into him once in the library and had spilled ink on herself, and had been very apologetic for getting some on his books. "I'm a junior, studying healing," she replied, grinning now that she knew where she recognised him from.
"Oh, Flick? Yes, he's lovely, and very friendly," she petted the bird and he climbed onto her finger, which she then extended towards the other. |

| "I like to watch the ocean from up here. It's peaceful,"
When the girl gave him a smile after jumping it helped Humphrey not to feel too bad at making her jump. Lucky for him she didn't seem to mind his interrupting whatever she was thinking about. Humphrey usually paid more attention to his surroundings than other people, simply a habit he'd slipped into. He liked to be aware of what was going on around him, that way things hopefully wouldn't take him by surprise. There were times when he'd been startled before growing up after he'd been bitten, and he quickly realized that he was prone to breaking things because of the strength enhancements that went with being a werewolf. Her comment about watching the ocean had him nodding, it was definitely one of the best views of it in the area. 'Definitely love the view. I enjoy watching the ocean too, it's just so...powerful...yet beautiful at the same time." he said quietly, thinking about it as he looked out.
"Wait! No, I haven't seen you at Merlin's - I remember you from Hogwarts. You were in Ravenclaw,"
"I'm a junior, studying healing,"
Following the girl's gaze, he found himself looking at what appeared to be a happy family enjoying a picnic together. Immediately his parent's faces flashed in his mind's eye, and he found himself missing them as he often did when seeing families together. Maybe one day he could have one again, but for now he was pretty much alone in the world. Shaking his head to clear it, he paid attention to what the girl was saying. When she mentioned seeing him at Hogwarts his memory finally clicked and he let out a small gasp. "That's where I know you from. You spilled ink on some of the books I was checking out from the library!" he said, chuckling a little at the memory. "The librarian made me work to make sure I got them all out. But that's all water under the bridge. What house were you in, again?" he queried. Although he definitely remembered her now, he couldn't remember the house crest she'd been wearing. "Ohhh, healing is a great choice. I was close to going with Cursebreaker, but I think working with dragons will be better for me. Usually get along well with animals and magical creatures, at least I have in the past." Humphrey informed her with a small shrug.
"Oh, Flick? Yes, he's lovely, and very friendly,"
"Flick, eh? That's a cute name." he said with a grin. Humphrey he held his hand out towards the girl when she extended him out on her finger, and waited to see if the sparrow would climb onto his hand. The sparrow definitely looked like it might be friendly enough to hop onto the hand of a stranger. |

| Alcyone's eyes lit up at his voicing of her exact thoughts and feelings in regards to the ocean. She clicked her fingers and grinned at him in a wide, bright manner. "Yes! That's why I love to watch the ocean. I love the sound of the waves crashing, and I like to just marvel at how something so beautiful can be so utterly devastating if it wants to be," she glanced back towards the ocean as she spoke about it, though her eyes were swiftly drawn back to him. Social etiquette always called for maintaining eye-contact as much as possible without creating a sense of discomfort when talking to people that one didn't know well. Once she'd gained a person's friendship, however, she could become a lot less formal when she spoke. Although, she wasn't currently being stiff, merely polite and perhaps warm because who could blame her, she was in a great mood. "Do you prefer summer or winter?" She asked, rather randomly.
She watched him as he looked towards the family she'd found her gaze occasionally straying to. Something twisted about in the depths of those eyes, an emotion that she was well-acquainted with. Her smile softened around the edges as she looked back towards the happy group of four, deciding not to comment on the look on his face. The conversation quickly switched away from such a somber feeling when the duo recalled where they knew one another from, and Alcyone laughed as he recalled the event, shaking her head slightly. Someone less confident than herself might've blushed - Jay, for example - but as it were, Alcyone merely beamed. "What a splendid way to meet someone, right? At least I left a mark on your memory," she teased. "Gryffindor," something her parents had pursed their lips at initially. Neither of their children had been the Slytherin's they'd wanted, though they'd been happier with Ravenclaw than with the house of the lion. "Dragons? That was my second choice, although I was tempted by potions too. But I want to help people," she said, tone softening.
She wanted to save people from losing someone that they loved, if she could. "I normally go for much fancier names, but Flick suited him. Don't ask me why," she laughed softly as he reached out a hand. Flick eyed it for a moment, and then bounced onto it, tweeting happily to himself as he hopped up the male's arm towards his shoulder. "I'm Alcyone, by the way. Alcyone Malfoy," she resisted the urge to wince at her last name - a lot of people reacted visibly to it. |

| "Yes! That's why I love to watch the ocean. I love the sound of the waves crashing, and I like to just marvel at how something so beautiful can be so utterly devastating if it wants to be,"
"Do you prefer summer or winter?"
As soon as he saw the girl's eyes light up and smile at him widely Humphrey found himself smiling back. For some reason he felt a lot less awkward than he usually did when talking with people. She was an easy person to get along with. "That's exactly it." he agreed. There was something magnificent about the ocean, the power it contained was breathtaking. He'd always enjoyed sunsets or sunrises over water, the way it reflected and magnified the light and colors. The random question about his preference of summer or winter caught him off guard, and it took him a moment to think of his answer. "Oh I have to go winter all the way. I love summer and it's fun to get out and do things in the sun, but I'm always too hot. Winter though, you can choose how many layers to put on. If you want to be cooler go with less. Usually I go with the less layers, personally. Also, I love the snow, and being able to ice skate on lakes and things. Snowball fights, forts, sledding, not to mention all the good food that comes with Christmas and the fun with that. When everything's blanketed in snow, the sun shining dazzlingly bright off of it...it makes the land, picturesque." he rambled on, blushing a little once he realized how much he was talking. "So which do you prefer?" he countered back.
"What a splendid way to meet someone, right? At least I left a mark on your memory,"
"Gryffindor,"
"Dragons? That was my second choice, although I was tempted by potions too. But I want to help people,"
The memory made him smile and he nodded enthusiastically when she said that it was a splendid way to meet somebody. Interesting events like that made things stick out, and also gave him a good story if he ever needed one. "It is a great way! If that hadn't happened I may have forgotten about the encounter." he admitted. "Gryffindor, where dwell the brave at heart! Wish that was me, but I'm better when it comes to books and things, definitely." He had a lot of respect for the Gryffindors, whenever Slytherin was trying to assert their dominance and bully people they were almost always the first ones to stand up to it. "Potions is something I could never do. I've burned through more than one cauldron. I'll be lucky if I can get through the general potions class that's mandatory for everyone." Humphrey said, laughing a little. When she said that she wanted to help people he nodded seriously. "That's a great goal to have."
"I normally go for much fancier names, but Flick suited him. Don't ask me why,"
"I'm Alcyone, by the way. Alcyone Malfoy,"
Smiling as the bird made its way onto his hand and then started making its way up his arm, he shrugged. "Sometimes names just fit perfectly. Flick definitely suits him." he agreed. Soon the bird was perched on his shoulder, making some chirping sounds near his ear and making him laugh a little. The sparrow added some fun to life, he had to admit. Upon hearing the word Malfoy he had instant recognition, remembering the family's role in what had happened with Voldemort. It can't have been easy growing up in a family with that sort of history, especially as a Gryffindor. Her parents can't have been too happy about that. "Well I consider it a pleasure to finally meet you properly, Miss Malfoy. I'm Humphrey Williams." he informed her, giving her hand a light shake. He found he really didn't care that she was a Malfoy, she seemed nice enough and they got along, and he thought that was what was important. |

| Alcyone knew that her naturally sociable personality, and the warmth with which she approached a majority of the people around her, made her the kind of person that others felt comfortable around and trusted. She was always grateful to have been blessed with such kindness, because it was only on a few occasions that being the way that she was became disadvantageous - people could, sometimes, assume that she was an airhead. After all, what girl who put as much effort into her appearance as Alcyone did could also be intelligent, right? Alcy had always believed that it was her goal in life to shatter the idea that a woman couldn't be smart and sexy. Brushing a stray hair out of her face, she refocused her attention on Humphrey, looking enlightened by his rambling. She had to agree with a majority of it, really. Watching snow filter down from the sky above and settle itself comfortably over the earth like a blanket was wonderful. Though, she preferred to be inside with a cup of cocoa in her hands on such days. "Oh, winter for me too!" Boots could get really uncomfortable in summer, too, and if Alcyone wasn't wearing knee-high boots like she was now, then Alcyone was certainly not a happy camper.
"Probably," she said with that tinkling laugh of hers that always made her brother snort at her. She would generally swat Cae when he did that, it was her "I'm feeling a lot more comfortable around you so I'm not going to sound like I have a stick up my ass" laugh, and it was a little bit high-pitched. "Hey, if in ten years time it turns out we've become the best of friends, we'll have a great meeting story to tell people, right?" She grinned, winking at him. Alcy was very forward when it came to making friends, and had actually said to Jaycie on their first meeting: "I like you. We should be best friends." To which Jay had, of course, blushed and muttered something in response that Alcy hadn't heard then, and wouldn't remember now even if she had. It had been so long ago that she'd befriended Jaycie... That ever-present smile warmed her features. "Nothing wrong with being a Ravenclaw. I think all of the houses have their good points," she nodded her head. "Except Slytherin," she joked. She considered him with a thoughtful gaze as he talked about his lack of proficiency in potions. "Well hey, I'm awesome at potions, let me know if you need help,"
She watched as her ever-so-friendly bird bounced along Humphrey's arm and settled itself by his ear, making happy noises to him to show that he liked the human who had befriended his master. Flick was a very domestic sparrow, having been rescued by Alcyone in his youth roughly 3 or 4 years ago, and she'd kept him with her ever since. He didn't really know what it was like to be afraid of humans, his instincts never having kicked in because of his indoctrination. "I'm glad you think so," she watched as Flick bumped his beak against Humphrey's neck, then jumped back down his arm and hopped over to Alcyone's out-stretched hand. She, of course, immediately returned him to her hair. He nestled into the soft locks happily. She was pleased when he didn't seem to mind her last name all that much, and even went so far as to call her Ms Malfoy. Immediately, she found her respect for the blond growing. Too many people judged her based on things she hadn't done. "And an absolute pleasure to meet you, master Williams," she grasped the edges of her skirt after she'd shaken his hand and curtseyed. |

| "Oh, winter for me too!"
Despite the fact that Alcyone was being rather quiet he could see from the look in her eyes as she listened that the girl knew exactly what he was talking about. Humphrey always looked forward to winter not just for the fun holidays that came with it, but for everything that it brought. It was good for the world to go into hibernation almost for a month or two every year in his opinion. People needed to be reminded that they could have fun simply staying home with the ones that mattered to them. "You can surely give me more of an answer than that. What's your favorite part?" he asked, not letting her off the hook that easily. Everybody had something about the holiday season that they liked more than the rest of it. Once again he looked out over the ocean from their lovely view, wishing that it was just a little warmer. Most likely he would manage if he went swimming because he ran at a bit higher temperature than most, but he would get some strange looks and didn't want to draw attention to himself by standing out.
"Probably,"
"Hey, if in ten years time it turns out we've become the best of friends, we'll have a great meeting story to tell people, right?"
"Nothing wrong with being a Ravenclaw. I think all of the houses have their good points,"
"Except Slytherin,"
"Well hey, I'm awesome at potions, let me know if you need help,"
The girl's laugh was contagious and quickly had him chuckling along with her as well. Humphrey thought he would have remembered anyways, the girl did stick out with her sense of style; but, he wouldn't know one way or the other because their interesting encounter made it stick out all on its own. "Oh, we definitely will have the story. Hope we can maintain the friendship that long. Merlin knows I could use a good friendship or two." he added quietly to himself at the end. Most times he didn't feel near as comfortable around other people as he did with Alcyone, which had contributed to him not really having any friends to speak of. Although that was something he was trying to work on. He simply shook his head at her joke and laughed, even Slytherins had their advantages. "Hey now, there's nothing wrong with being ambitious as long as you don't get carried away with it. Honestly if the older Slytherins didn't train the younger ones in how to bully people I wouldn't have a problem with them." he commented with a shrug. As long as people didn't bother him or others unnecessarily, they were fine with him. Perking up at her offer of possible potions help, he gave her a smile. "That would be great, I'll make sure to let you know if I'm drowning more than usual in the work and need some help. Generous of you."
"I'm glad you think so,"
"And an absolute pleasure to meet you, master Williams,"
Having the bird chirp away happily made him smile, enjoying himself quite a bit. If he got a pet he doubted that it would be a bird, but it was nice to know that there were some nice ones out there. "Well if I didn't Flick hear would let me know I was being ridiculous, I'm sure." Humphrey responded with a wink. The bird quickly decided that he wanted to be with his owner and hopped down to her hand before being lifted to her hair and settling in. It did stand to mention that the site was rather peculiar, a girl who clearly took time to make her hair look especially neat didn't mind a bird making its home in it; the incongruity of it all left quite the impression. Hearing Alcyone call him master Williams before curtseying was a bit of a shock, but he gave her a small bow back. "Seems there are proper ladies left after all, the pleasure is mine." he assured her. Just then his stomach started to grumble a little at him. "Starting to wish I'd brought a snack along, do you know of any places nearby to grab something to eat?" |

| Alcy chuckled as he prompted her for more than an answer than she liked winter, too. She cast him a sidelong glance that suggested amusement as she lifted her fingers to toy with her hair, pushing it back more firmly into the diamante-set clip that was holding her fringe out of her face. For the most part. Random strays of shorter growth still managed to flop down every now and then, simply because she preferred not to use a hair-freezing charm to keep it all in place - then, it wouldn't feel or look as soft and luscious as it did naturally. Besides, sometimes the messy look could also be quite attractive. Stop thinking about your appearance, she thought to herself. But wasn't that way she liked winter? Because it was beautiful? "I love the way winter looks," she said in a soft tone of voice, eyes glazing over as she pictured it. "The way that ice drapes itself over the trees and snow covers everything - it's like a white wonderland. I love it. And I love to be curled up by the window pane when it's snowing lightly with a cup of hot cocoa and a blanket - but who doesn't love doing that, right? And I love having fires in winter, you can't really have a fire in summer because it's hot enough as it is. Night time just feels more peaceful in winter - and the sound of rain makes me happy, too," though it did rain more in autumn than in winter.
Curiosity burned in that chestnut gaze as it settled on him once more rather than staring wistfully out at the ocean that she could not swim in, thanks to the cool nature of autumn. She'd been contended with the first part of his words, but that last little bit that seemed to be muttered more to himself than to her had her worried. "You don't have many good friends, then?" She asked, softly. Her hand moved of it's own accord to settle on his arm and squeeze it lightly, saying through action rather than words that she'd have him now. Alcyone had maybe just really met the blond and spoken to him, but she was the type to give her all from the get go, it was part of the reason that people liked her - it was all or nothing. Some didn't appreciate that, and they got get - Eh hem. That word wasn't particularly ladylike. "I jest, there's nothing all that wrong with most Slytherin's. There are just a few rotten eggs in that house, as there are with every house, but the Slytherin rotten eggs are simply more vocal about their awfulness than others," she really liked all of the houses, and had only said her part about Slytherin to play the role of a true Gryffindor. "Generous is my middle name," she winked.
She laughed again, amused by him pointing out the talkative nature of her bird. "Yes, Flick is very vocal about his feelings on most things," she said as she retrieved her beloved pet and allowed him to nestle back into her hair. "You should see him with my hippogriff back home, the two of them play around like a couple of toddlers, and chirp at each other faster than you could imagine," she had never minded getting her hair a little messy for Flick, even if she would spend such time carefully putting it into place. Alcyone was vain, yes, but not that vain. Happiness within others was more important than whether or not her hair stayed in place - it was one of the reasons that she refused to allow others to think her vain and nothing else. She liked to look pretty, but if she had to get down and dirty in the mud in order to help someone else? She would. "Comes with the pureblood lifestyle, naturally." She explained, though her curtsey and name of "Master Williams" had been a bit of playfulness on her behalf. "Yes, I do. Follow me, master Williams," she crooked a finger at him, swirled on her heel, and lead the two of them off.

| [Yeah we can end it, let me just post so our last round of discussions is finished up nicely ]
"I love the way winter looks,"
"The way that ice drapes itself over the trees and snow covers everything - it's like a white wonderland. I love it. And I love to be curled up by the window pane when it's snowing lightly with a cup of hot cocoa and a blanket - but who doesn't love doing that, right? And I love having fires in winter, you can't really have a fire in summer because it's hot enough as it is. Night time just feels more peaceful in winter - and the sound of rain makes me happy, too,"
As Humphrey watched his newest friend toying with her hair and arranging it, he gave his own messy locks a slight flip to the side. One of the things he thought rather nice was that with his wavy hair that curled slightly it didn't require much maintenance. In fact he rarely used a comb, sometimes he did but often he simply ran his fingers few it a few times and went with what happened. Listening to the answer she gave, he grinned widely. Alcyone was describing some of his favorite parts about the winter season quite well. "Plus there's the chance to break out all the fun holiday sweaters. Hot chocolate and blankets by a window are nice, although I prefer to have it after playing outside. Come in and hold the cup to thaw out my hands from all the handling of the snowballs. Definitely the best time for fires. Rain I don't mind, but usually it's a bit too cold to go out and enjoy as opposed to warm summer rains. I love to go out in the rain and play around when it's warm enough." he admitted with a grin. One of his favorite musicals was Singin' In The Rain, and he'd done that more than once. Although he wasn't going to tell her about that, a little too embarrassing. He blushed slightly thinking about it.
"You don't have many good friends, then?"
"I jest, there's nothing all that wrong with most Slytherin's. There are just a few rotten eggs in that house, as there are with every house, but the Slytherin rotten eggs are simply more vocal about their awfulness than others,"
"Generous is my middle name,"
Humphrey winced as he realized she'd heard him say that last part, and looked over to meet her gaze. It was obvious that Alcyone hadn't picked up that he was usually not good around people because he felt so comfortable around her. All he did was simply shake his head at her question. "To be honest I don't really have any aside from this random girl I met at a book shop. Turns out she's a first year at Merlin's as well. Usually I'm pretty awkward around people, Alcyone." he confided in her, in way of explanation. When her hand went to his arm and gave it a light squeeze he tried his best not to tense up too much. He appreciated the gesture, but he had never really gotten used to physical contact with other people other than handshakes. That was the extent of what he was really comfortable with, but he gave her a small smile to let her know that it was received before pulling his arm back. "I suppose that's true enough. Seems like a tougher house because of a few people here and there." Humphrey replied, thinking about it. Laughing at her comment about generous being her middle name, he felt himself grinning widely at her. "It would be a shame not to take advantage of it then."
"Yes, Flick is very vocal about his feelings on most things,"
"You should see him with my hippogriff back home, the two of them play around like a couple of toddlers, and chirp at each other faster than you could imagine,"
"Comes with the pureblood lifestyle, naturally."
"Yes, I do. Follow me, master Williams,"
Upon hearing the word Hippogriff Humphrey's mouth dropped open in shock. Hippogriffs were hands down his favorite lesson that he'd ever had in CoMC at Hogwarts, remarkable creatures. Having one as a pet though, now that was something to be jealous of. "You have a Hippogriff too? Now I'm definitely going to have to come pay you a visit! They were my favorite lesson when we covered them in Care of Magical Creatures one year. Noble animals." he remarked. Humphrey shouldn't have been too surprised that a pureblood family would have one, but he had to admit he was rather impressed. "Oh, of course. Should have realized." Humphrey answered with a chuckle. When Alcyone crooked her finger at him and turned on her heel, telling him to follow, he raised one eyebrow. Seemed like somebody expected him to simply follow along. "You're lucky I like you Alcyone, a crooked finger doesn't often get me to follow someone. I'll let it slide this time, though." he said reluctantly. If only because she's cute... |
